Thank you, Speaker Pelosi and the House Democratic Caucus, for standing up and rejecting the President's tax cut compromise with the Republicans. We ask that you stand strong and demand a new deal that will address the needs of working people, senior citizens, and the unemployed while making sure that millionaires and billionaires are not given massive tax breaks.

Nancy Pelosi is a progressive champion. She has stood up for middle class Americans time and again -- and she did it again today.

Today, Speaker Pelosi announced that the House of Representatives will not vote on President Obama and Congressional Republicans' so-called "compromise" plan extending the Bush tax cuts for the rich -- a plan that was opposed by an overwhelming number of DFA members, Democrats across the country and the majority of Americans nationwide.

It's this sort of bold leadership that has made Nancy Pelosi one of the most effective House Speakers in history.
