I wanted to share an email that our intern, Dylan sent out today. This election was so important to Dylan that he took a semester off from college to help ensure progressives win this November. He has made good use of his time away from school by spending 12 hours a day on the phone with volunteers -- making confirm calls, debrief calls, training calls, or calling voters himself... The reason he is motivated is just something I had to share with you. Read below. ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From:Dylan Gibson, Democracy for America<[email protected]> Date: Fri, Nov 2, 2012 at 11:14 AM Subject: The Fifth Day Friend - I still remember the day that Obamacare was passed. I remember watching C-SPAN for four hours as the final votes were cast. Most of all, I remember what it felt like to know that people across the country with pre-existing conditions were going to be insured. You see, when I was 9 years old, my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. It is to this day one of the most influential parts of my life. The cancer was caught early, thanks to a health plan that included preventative care. But I know that we got lucky. The insurance company could have easily classified my mother's cancer as a pre-existing condition and denied care. There are only 4 days until the election. And I am going to be spending every waking minute making sure that on the fifth day the people we have elected are people committed to protecting patients with pre-existing conditions across the country. I'm looking for 19 more people to make calls tonight so that I can make that a reality. Join me tonight to make GOTV calls for candidates in crucial districts! Thanks for all that you do. - Dylan Dylan Gibson, Political Department Democracy for America Volunteering is easy, you can do it from the comfort of your own home. In one two hour shift you can speak to over 100 voters. In an election where the margins are going to be incredibly slim, YOU have the chance to make a huge impact the direction this country goes.
