Nick Lampson for U.S. Congress TX-22

320m1139

Name: Nick Lampson for U.S. Congress TX-22
Office: U.S. Congress TX-22
Website: lampson.com

Background:

I served in Congress from 1996-2004, losing in 2004 due to the redistricting scheme by Tom DeLay. Perhaps what I am best known for in Congress, were my efforts on children's safety issues. I founded the first-ever Congressional Caucus on Missing and Exploited Children, which worked to create the national Amber Alert program. In time, this caucus became the largest bi-partisan caucus on Capitol Hill having almost equal numbers of Republicans and Democrats.

Goals:

It's time for a change, and I believe we send a powerful message winning Tom DeLay's Congressional seat from TX-22.

I am running because folks are tired of controversy and investigations. We must move away from the power plays and bitter partisanship that now grip Washington, and get back to doing the people's business.

Issues:

I want to make health care more affordable, fight for stronger homeland security, and focus on cutting our massive debt and deficit.

Grassroots Support:

Grassroots organizing is already playing a critical role in our campaign. We have already knocked on thousands of doors and made thousands of phone calls. We have Block Walks or grassroots training planned for every weekend.

DFA Values:

I believe every American is entitled to health care. I founded the first Caucus for Missing and Exploited Children, and I oppose every effort to privatize Social Security.

While in Congress, I voted twice against raising the debt ceiling to $8 trillion, and voted for a pay-as-you-go budget policy.
