John Pavich for US House - IL 11

721m1226

Name: John Pavich for US House - IL 11
Office: US House - IL 11
Website: pavichforcongress.com

Background:

John returned home in 2005 to run against his US Representative after serving his country for 2 1/2 years as a counter-terrorism officer with the C.I.A. Prior to his service, John assisted the defense team of Biljana Plavsic, a case that resulted in the first-ever plea agreement in the history of the War Crimes Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia in the Hague. John received his degree in International Relations from Saint Norbert College and a law degree from Loyola University Chicago, where he focused on international law. John and his wife Kelly have a 1 year old son, Andrew.

Goals:

John decided to run because he saw the rotten fruits borne of Republican control of the House. He wants to represent the working families in his district and actually provide a voice for them. John has often said that he will always act as if he were not going to run for re-election, which means he will always do what he feels is right for his constituents.

Issues:

John will be running on three main issues; national security, health care and fiscal responsibilty.

Grassroots Support:

Grassroots organizing has and will continue to play an integral part in our campaign. The Evanston-based Committee of 100 has already worked phone banks and performed volunteer outreach, helping us to reach our current number of 1500 volunteers.

DFA Values:

John is an ardent opponent of a "gay marriage" amendment because he does not believe that the state should legislate the definition of marriage for churches or individual states. John decided to run partly because of his belief that we need to restore fiscal responsibility to the federal budgetary process. To that end, John advocates the adoption of Senator Ron Wyden's Fair Flat Tax Act, which the Congressional Budget Office has said will cut billions off the federal deficit.
