Campaign to Elect LaToya Reynolds for House

Who am I?

Working as a professional, I met my knight in shining armor. Weve been married over ten years and have four bright and talented children. In 2006 we moved to Florida and made Palm Bay our home.

My husband, known as Coach Reynolds, a Gulf War Veteran, works as a supervisor for Brevard County Parks and Recreation and coaches for Heritage High School. I work as a Realtor and Freelance Paralegal, Broker /Owner of Reynolds Realty, office in Melbourne.

Among other studies, I graduated from Herzing University with an AA in Paralegal Studies and BS in Legal Studies.

Making time for my community has always been a priority for me. I have a long history of public service. Among others, I am a member on the Community Development Advisory Board in Palm Bay, working to represent the community and in an advisory capacity to the City for community development administered programs.

I am also a member of the Palm Bay Library Advisory Board, working as a liaison between the city and public libraries to assure our libraries meet the needs of our community.

I serve as a 3rd term President of the Community Development Institute Policy Council where I work very closely with parents of head start programs to ensure parents play an integral role in program governance and leadership through their involvement in Parent Committees and Policy Councils.

For several years, I have been an active member of the NAACP, where I Chair on the Political Action Committee, working to register and educate the community on the issues, fighting for equality and justice for all.

Finally in 2009, I realized my own dream and am now Founder of YB-MIC, a nonprofit organization fighting to reduce recidivism through job/skill training, rehabilitation and various other outreach programs in efforts to make our community a better place to live, work and play for all.

I am ready, able and willing to take on the challenge.

Why am I running?

Im running because I care about my community and I care what happens to it. I am a leader of the next generation that will undoubtedly inherit the disastrous results of this government and I believe that it is not only imperative but a duty for me to stand up and take a leadership role in protecting my future and the future of the next generations to come.

While in office I hope to be a part of the solution to put control back in the hands of the people; Im committed to bringing transparent fiscal responsibility back to government and not on the backs of those who simply cannot afford it. I believe Florida can grow its economy and sustain our environment at the same time.

In doing so, I will to focus on jobs, education and reforming our current tax code.
We need to look for wasteful spending and although tough choices have to be made when it comes to budget cuts, we have to be fair in making sure that everyone pays their fair share and not cutting funding on the backs of those who are most vulnerable.

I believe in bipartisanship and I believe these are some of the solutions that will put control of life back in the hands of the people.

My Goals

I believe Florida can grow its economy and sustain our environment at the same time.
In doing so, the top three issues facing my constituents that I will focus on include: jobs, budget review and balance for wasteful spending and reforming our education system.

1. In regard to jobs:
a. I support lowering the corporate tax so that we can compete nationally.
b. I will work to reduce fees and make incentives for entrepreneurs to create and maintain a business in Florida.
c. I will focus on innovation that will incentivize growth to our standing businesses, such as local worker skill training programs.
d. I will focus on innovation that will incentivize investments in our businesses like supporting clean technology.

2. In regard to budget review and balance
a. Review and balance budget, cutting wasteful spending
b. Making tough choices when it comes to budget cuts, however, we have to be fair in making sure that everyone pays their fair share and not cutting funding on the backs of those the most vulnerable.
c. I support reforming our current tax code.

3. The education system is in need of critical reform.
a. I would start by making sure college students can graduate with a competitive education that wont put them 30 years in debt
b. I will fight to make sure grade school students have a clean environment to learn in, up to date tools and equipment, quality teachers and a quality and competitive education.

We cannot afford to sacrifice programs that are essential to the welfare of this nation.
We have to demand accountability. I believe in bipartisanship and I believe these are some of the solutions that will put control of life back in the hands of the people.

My Campaign is People Powered!

Im running a grassroots campaign. One example would be that I am knocking on doors and personally speaking with everyone who signs a petition for me to qualify which gives me the opportunity to get to know more voters and vice versa. Another example is that my campaign is run by volunteers from the community, willing and committed to make a difference.

About the Endorsement Process

All campaigns seeking a DFA endorsement are first required to complete the endorsement application in order to be considered. Members of the DFA Political team will review applications after submission and make endorsement decisions on a rolling basis throughout the applicable election cycle.

The driving force behind all DFA endorsements is our membership. We gauge DFA member support in a number of different ways. For starters, supporters can publicly show their support on any candidate’s application page. We also utilize endorsement decisions of local DFA groups as a measure of local community support. Finally, if you know a candidate deserving of a DFA endorsement who hasn’t yet applied, we want to hear about them! Please visit the Endorsement FAQ page for answers to frequently asked questions about our endorsement process.

If you still have any questions, or want to let us know about a candidate in your neighborhood, please call us at (802) 651-3200 or email us at [email protected] .
