Who am I?
The son of an electrician and a factory worker, Martin Heinrich is a committed advocate for New Mexico's middle class families. He is working hard to create an environment for New Mexico's small businesses to thrive and grow, creating good jobs for our communities. Martin is a champion for our burgeoning clean energy economy and treasured public lands.
As one of only a handful of members of Congress with a background in science and technology, Martin brings a unique perspective as we seek to create good, sustainable jobs in growing industries like clean energy and biotechnology. Martin is focused on helping New Mexico's economy grow for everyone and not just the special interests. Prior to being elected to Congress in 2008, Martin served as Albuquerque City Council President and as Natural Resources Trustee for the State of New Mexico. Martin returns back to the state nearly every week, and has held more than 500 constituent meetings in just over two years. He and his wife Julie are raising their two sons in Albuquerque.
Why am I running?
I derive my inspiration and passion for public service from my working class upbringing, my wife Julie, my two sons, Carter and Micah, and the New Mexico community that our family calls home. My goal is to work hard each and every day on behalf of those New Mexicans most in need and provide every person in this state with a prosperous future worthy of our efforts and our values.
My Goals
Like most places in the nation, New Mexico families are concerned about the economy and jobs. By focusing on job creation, New Mexico's burgeoning clean energy industry and middle-class tax relief, we can re-energize our economy and make it work for everyone.
My DFA Values
This legacy campaign is missing this information
My Campaign is People Powered!
My campaigns have always been and will always be fueled by local, grassroots volunteers who dedicate countless hours to making phone calls and knocking on doors to rally support and register new voters. Over 98% of the financial contributions to my campaign come from individuals. Of those individual contributions, 82% are low-dollar (un-itemized, $100 or less) contributions.
