Who am I?

Hi. My name is Henry Yanez and I'm running for congress in Michigan's 10th district. Thank you for taking time to visit my web site and learn a little bit about me and my family. I hope you'll join us so we can work together and make our communities, our country and our families safer, stronger and more secure now and in the future.

My children, daughter Alison and son Ryan , both got a great public education. As a parent, I understand the importance of being an involved parent and having quality schools for our children to attend.

My dad, Joe, was a welder at Ford Motor Co. for 48 years. He worked hard and provided a good middle class lifestyle for his family. Dad is gone now and as the son of aging parents I learned how important the promise of Medicare and Social Security is. Important to seniors, to us and to our children.

Working as a firefighter and paramedic Im in homes responding to emergencies everyday. I see first hand how issues like jobs, the economy and health care effect middle class Americans. How budget cuts hurt the essential services that people and businesses rely on. How seniors fear their golden years may become little more than a tarnished dream.

Good jobs, a strong economy, protecting and providing for our families and a safe and secure future. These are the things I will fight for in Washington.

Why am I running?

Working as a firefighter and paramedic Im in homes responding to emergencies everyday. I see first hand how issues like jobs, the economy and health care effect middle class Americans. How budget cuts hurt the essential services that people and businesses rely on.

Both of my parents suffered from long diseases. If it wasn't for programs like Social Security and Medicare I believe our family, like so many others, would have been financially devastated.

My goals are to save Medicare and Social Security as they are. Do what it takes to bring and keep good jobs here. Make sure our economy works for everyone. Make sure our programs that protect our families, workers and environment are maintained and strengthened. And make sure that everyone has the equal opportunity to fully experience the American dream.

My Goals

Jobs. Jobs with good pay and benefits. - Fair trade policies. Tax policies that keep profits here for reinvestment.

A fair economy. - Our tax system needs to be totally overhauled for a new world, global economy. Too many special interest have skewed the system to favor them. We have to end this idea of "trickle down". It's been an abject failure for the vast majority of Americans.

A secure future - Maintaining Medicare, Social Security, making sure people don't loose their life savings with Wall St. gamblers. The Average American should have their own retirement hedge fund.

My Campaign is People Powered!

I've been working with both Democrats and grassroots activist from the various communities in my district. Our goal is to be an organic campaign built from the ground up.

My last election I received nearly 60K votes. I am tasking my volunteers to seek out those who voted for me and secure a contribution for our campaign. This is the only way we can be assured that any influence in Washington will come from the people in the district. Not some corporate special interest.

About the Endorsement Process

All campaigns seeking a DFA endorsement are first required to complete the endorsement application in order to be considered. Members of the DFA Political team will review applications after submission and make endorsement decisions on a rolling basis throughout the applicable election cycle.

The driving force behind all DFA endorsements is our membership. We gauge DFA member support in a number of different ways. For starters, supporters can publicly show their support on any candidate’s application page. We also utilize endorsement decisions of local DFA groups as a measure of local community support. Finally, if you know a candidate deserving of a DFA endorsement who hasn’t yet applied, we want to hear about them!
