Background:
University of MI undergrad, Law school at Boston University, was a Denver public defender won an award for being the best pro-bono lawyer in the city, have been in the legislature for 14 years. Currently I'm the majority leader in the CO Senate and I was the minority leader of the house.
Goals:
I'm running to increase voter participation, ensure fairness and transparency in all elections and get special interest PAC money out of politics.
Issues:
Ensuring we have fair and open elections. Getting the influence of special interest PAC money out of government. Increasing voter turnout.
Grassroots Support:
I've currently got an email list of over 60,000 people from all over my state and I have hundreds of volunteers. This past month I raised $72,000 from over 1,500 small contributions.
DFA Values:
I was a Denver Public Defender. I won an award for being the Best Pro Bono attorney in Denver. I have a legislative record of protecting the environment, funding education, protecting worker's rights. We always balance our budget in Colorado and I walked the entire state to help promote a referendum to get an additional four billion dollars into education and health care to prevents dangerous cuts.
