Reese for Congress

Who am I?

Jim Reese was raised by a working-class, single mom in Detroit. Jim graduated from Hillsdale College with a B.A. in American Studies and a minor in music. He then worked his way through Capital University Law School. Jim currently resides in Gahanna, Ohio, with his family.

As an intern with the United States Senate Subcommittee on Immigration and the United States Senate Judiciary Committee under Senator E. Spencer Abraham, Jim learned the inner workings of the American immigration system and the faults of American immigration policy. Further, Jim observed first-hand the abyss of committee and the failure of a democratic system wherein good laws die without debate and without a single vote being cast. Jim has protected voter rights as an attorney poll observer. He joined voices with Ohio workers in opposition to S.B. 5 and Issue 2.

Currently, Jim is a small business owner and managing partner at Bogart & Reese LLC. The firm specializes in peoples law including ADA discrimination, employment discrimination, consumer bankruptcy in conjunction with the Legal Aid Society and juvenile defense. Jim is a member of the Columbus Bar Association Committee on Professional Ethics.

Why am I running?

Like many small business owners, Jim has a unique perspective on, and understanding of, the challenges facing the American worker. Jim proposes a solution that will benefit American workers by creating good paying jobs and aid small businesses by increasing the availability of credit to expand and increase profit. Jim will work to facilitate public-private partnerships to guarantee that America remains on the leading edge of technology, medicine, renewable energy, transportation technology and local manufacturing.

With the American worker and the American entrepreneur working together, on the fair and even playing field of Main Street economics, we can successfully overcome the current Great Recession in which we find ourselves. Jim is the only candidate working to put these two groups, who constitute the whole of the American economic landscape, in a position to work together towards a mutually-beneficial goal.

My Goals

(1) Ensure that credit is made available to small business owners and entrepreneurs and (2) end the Ocean Freight Shipping Deduction.

My Campaign is People Powered!

We are truth-telling and taking our message of "American Jobs, American Ingenuity and American Muscle" to our people, where they live. We are running a people-powered, grassroots campaign by focusing on the message, by recruiting volunteers to carry the message to individuals within our district and by loading up the campaign RV to engage with our people in their communities at local events and celebrations including county fairs, farmer's markets and classic car shows.

About the Endorsement Process

All campaigns seeking a DFA endorsement are first required to complete the endorsement application in order to be considered. Members of the DFA Political team will review applications after submission and make endorsement decisions on a rolling basis throughout the applicable election cycle.

The driving force behind all DFA endorsements is our membership. We gauge DFA member support in a number of different ways. For starters, supporters can publicly show their support on any candidate’s application page. We also utilize endorsement decisions of local DFA groups as a measure of local community support. Finally, if you know a candidate deserving of a DFA endorsement who hasn’t yet applied, we want to hear about them! Please visit the Endorsement FAQ page for answers to frequently asked questions about our endorsement process.

If you still have any questions, or want to let us know about a candidate in your neighborhood, please call us at (802) 651-3200 or email us at [email protected] .
