Daylin Leach for State Senate

Who am I?

I am the incumbent State Senator for Pennsylvanias 17th District, a position I have held since 2009. Prior to that, I represented the 149th District in Pennsylvanias State House of Representatives. As a Senator, I serve as minority chairman of the Judiciary committee, and have been appointed to both the Public Employee Retirement Commission and the Pennsylvania Commission on Sentencing.

Why am I running?

I am running for re-election as Senator for the 17th District, to continue the work I began when I was first elected to the General Assembly in 2002, including: defending civil and human rights; making sure every student has a quality education; protecting access to justice; fighting for a clean, healthy environment; and respecting the rights of working men and women.

My Goals

First, I believe increasing the states share of public education funding will result in better and more equitable schools for Pennsylvanias students, and decrease reliance on regressive local property taxes. Second, more funding for environmental protection and preserving open space is vitally important as natural gas drilling operations continue to ramp up in Pennsylvania. Finally, improving our roads and bridges is important for public safety and will help lure job-creating business to Pennsylvania.

My Campaign is People Powered!

The volunteers that we have are the engine that drives our campaign: knocking on doors, making phone calls, helping out around the office, hosting meet-and-greets, helping to raise funds, everything is powered by the grassroots volunteers that have supported my campaign. Without them I wouldn't have won my first elected office, and without them I can't win again this year -- this is truly their campaign.

About the Endorsement Process

All campaigns seeking a DFA endorsement are first required to complete the endorsement application in order to be considered. Members of the DFA Political team will review applications after submission and make endorsement decisions on a rolling basis throughout the applicable election cycle.

The driving force behind all DFA endorsements is our membership. We gauge DFA member support in a number of different ways. For starters, supporters can publicly show their support on any candidate’s application page. We also utilize endorsement decisions of local DFA groups as a measure of local community support. Finally, if you know a candidate deserving of a DFA endorsement who hasn’t yet applied, we want to hear about them! Please visit the Endorsement FAQ page for answers to frequently asked questions about our endorsement process.

If you still have any questions, or want to let us know about a candidate in your neighborhood, please call us at (802) 651-3200 or email us at [email protected] .
