Loren Jackson for Harris County District Clerk
| Name: | Loren Jackson for Harris County District Clerk |
| Office: | Harris County District Clerk |
| Website: | lorenjackson.com |
Background:
Attended United States Military Academy at West Point and received a B.A. in English (Rhetoric) from Texas A&M University. Received Law Degree from South Texas College of Law and Admitted to Texas Bar in 2003. Currently an Attorney, practicing General Civil Litigation with a focus on Environmental work.
Married to Laura, a Speech Pathologist, who worked for 5 years for the Dean of the Texas Senate, State Senator John Whitmire.
Goals:
To restore Harris County as the model and standard-bearer for the rest of Texas. While Harris County is the largest county in Texas (population-wise), we lag behind other, smaller counties in terms of efficiency and effective management in administration of the Courts.
Issues:
Increasing the efficiency and technology of the District Clerk's office
Effective Management and Administration
Improving Customer Service and citizen access
Grassroots Support:
Grassroots will play an essential role. Running a county-wide campaign, it is essential that the grassroots folks work within their communities to place yard signs, call neighbors, register voters, get people to polling locations, etc.
DFA Values:
I would classify myself as socially progressive in the sense that I believe that all people, regardless of any factors such as age, race, national origin, sexual preference, gender identitiy, etc. should be afforde equal protection and equal rights under the laws of the State of Texas and the United States. Fiscally, having had experience operating a business, I believe in finding more efficient ways for government to provide services to citizens, carefully balancing such efficiency with the cost to taxpayers.
