Larry Zamba for WI State Assembly District 66
| Name: | Larry Zamba for WI State Assembly District 66 |
| Office: | WI State Assembly District 66 |
| Website: | electzamba.com |
Background:
I'm a family man, with a perfect wife, Patti (who is by trade an attorney and guardian ad litum) and two girls and a boy. I've been a resident of the district for 40 years.
I'm a small business owner of 30 years. Our specialty is photography and graphic design work. We are also landlords, offering nice apartments to families.
I'm a graduate of UW-Parkside with a degree in Broadcasting and Art.
I've been involved with everything from the Boy Scouts to horse riding. I enjoy the great outdoors!
Goals:
Why Am I running:
I'm running because I believe in Progress over Politics. I never thought that I'd get involved with politics, however, I got to the point where I realized if things were going to change, I'd have to stand up for our district.
I'm running because this year my opponent is at her weakest point. Specifically:
Kerkman's down in the canvassing polls, she's failed to get the endorsement of the newspapers. Our state mirrored the national elections, where we almost completely wiped out the Republicans in the Assembly. They lost the majority in Senate. They didn't take the Governorship. 2008 will probably be a repeat of '06.
I'm running because my opponent is a Neo-con, promoting an agenda of busting Unions, privatizing everything, giving corporations free reign, and socially controling the individual. She has totally lost touch with her constituents needs.
She rubber stamps whatever her party puts in front of her. In 8 years she has authored no significant bills.
Goals:
In 2009 one of the most advanced health care bills will be offered up again, known as "Healthy Wisconsin". It is the same program all the legislators have. I will vote to pass this bill.
I would like to spearhead a state operated manufacturing facility in our area to construct solar panels.
I'd support the Great Lakes Compact to protect our most valuable resource, Lake Michigan.
Issues:
1- Universal Healthcare
2 -Promoting Environmentally friendly energy sources to lower our energy bills and and create jobs. The solar panel and wind turbine manufacturing could bring thousands of jobs to the area.
3 - Fully funding Schools.
Grassroots Support:
Grassroots organizing will not only help create a win for our district, but can further build a long term progressive base to draw on in future elections.
DFA Values:
I believe in the importance and power of Unions. I'm pro-choice. I believe that if two adults love each other, the state's got no business getting involved with it
Fiscally responsible: For too long, corporations headquartered out-of-state have avoided paying any state income tax through a loophole in our state law. Our people are carrying them to the tune of almost $1 billion dollars per year, though they use our infra-structure. The people have got to stop carrying that weight. I'd vote to close that loophole.
I believe we should get people to work by creating a public works program.
I'd reject federally funded mandates that drain our coffers, like the Real ID act, which will cost us $100 million in the first year alone.
I'd trim waste in government, and greed in corporations to reduce the taxes on our people.
