Goals:
Over the past several years, the priorities of many members of the County Commission have become disconnected from the real priorities and needs of the people of Hillsborough County. Their priorities have focused on political social "wedge" issues and the agendas of special interest groups. This has deeply divided our community while neglecting and diverting attention away from the real issues that affect the daily lives of all residents and the future economic and social growth of this county.
Issues:
1. A balanced approach to responsible growth and development and support a sound, long-term Comprehensive Plan
2. Promote a true regional transportation plan
3. The leadership to set environmental health as a top priority.
Grassroots Support:
Volunteers are serving as neighborhood precinct canvassers; parade participants; political educators at fairs, festivals and events. Over 20,000 electronic newsletters go out once per month to interested parties. Volunteers who have never been politically involved are now volunteering at a variety of levels. Well over 500 contributors have stepped forward to support the campaign, so far
DFA Values:
Our diversity makes each of us unique, but not separate. We connect and reconnect to one another through our work, our schools, and our neighborhoods. Regardless of our age, race, ethnicity, religion, gender, abilities, socio-economic status, sexual orientation or gender identity, regardless of whether we live and work in an urban, suburban or rural environment, as Hillsborough County residents, we have one aim in common: to make this county a great place to live, work and play. The things that we share are far more important than the things that differentiate us. Our lives are enriched when we bring many voices to our common goals. Our national motto says it well: e pluribus, unum! Out of many comes one. Out of diversity comes unity.
As a financial planner, I know the heavy responsiblity to plan for the future and assess the impact of every fiscal decision.
