Supernatural

Interacting with groups of people in the physical world does not come naturally to me.  I've always felt that I do my best work alone.  It's not that I'm uncooperative, or that I'm terribly shy.  It's just a personality trait, perhaps stemming from my being an only child.

Be that as it may, it has become clear that we cannot win over the forces of darkness which have descended upon this country without uniting.  It is crucial that everyone who believes we can make this a better, saner, healthier, more welcoming country must join together and work hard to fix this mess.  So working as a community may take a super (above) natural effort for me, but I feel I must attempt it, because it all has to start somewhere for each of us.

Obama can't do it alone.  Even if he were a god - and he's not, he's just a man, albeit a brilliant and extraordinarily focused man - he could not fix the train wreck of the past eight years without the help of everyone capable of working for change actually working hard for change.

After seeing Sarah Palin at the RNC on Wednesday night, I feel newly energized to join this battle.  That petty, vindictive, anti-woman person must not conquer.  She must not be V.P. Anyone who watched McCain dodder out onto the stage in St. Paul should be horrified at the thought that the next person in line for the presidency of the United States would be Sarah Palin.

There are many reasons why my politics are the way they are.  I was raised by Roosevelt Democrats. My family has always been strongly pro-union. I believe in a woman's right to control her own biological destiny. I believe strongly in separation of church and state. Same-sex couples who love each other should be able to join their lives together with equal protection under the law. I'm pro-science. I'm a strong believer in civil liberties. But the need to prevent the horror of four to eight years of maybe not McSame but McWorse, has truly inspired me to go beyond simply voting.  I'll do my part, to the best of my abilities.
