Monte Johnson for Delegate

Who am I?

I'm a lifelong Virginian and a resident of Brambleton. Currently, I'm a project manager at Booz Allen Hamilton, and I'm going to handle my responsibilities as delegate with the same solutions-oriented focus that I bring to my day job. If a piece of legislation does not improve quality of life, address a current problem or position Virginia better for the future, I won't give it the time of day.

I'm a first-time candidate, so there's still a great deal I'm learning about the political process (particularly fundraising!) - but the more people I meet, and the more stories I hear, the more convinced I am that my district deserves better than its current representative.

Why am I running?

I'm running because my district deserves a Delegate who will fight for the priorities of our constituents - smart expansion that doesn't destroy our natural beauty, a fair transportation solution for Virginia, and keeping the government out of women's health. My opponent's been on the wrong side of each one of these issues. I'll fight to prioritize real problems such as these and move past the ideologically motivated debates that waste my constituents' time.

My Goals

I will vote against every bill that seeks to unfairly disadvantage my constituents (whether in their tax burden or in their relationship with their doctors), and I will fight to make sure that my region's unique quality of life isn't destroyed by the rush to develop. I'll work to build a majority of like-minded officials in both my district and in the House of Delegates, and I will go out of my way to support up and coming prospects in the same mold.

My DFA Values

The theme of my campaign is "Our Community, Our Values." I believe that the policy points expressed above reflect a Northern Virginia community that deeply values fairness and opportunity and that believes in equality for all. Whenever we interact with someone, we open up our campaign community to them and seek to become part of their personal community in turn. Our community values the help we give each other just as much as it values the liberty we maintain from excessive external intervention.

My Campaign is People Powered!

We're running a grassroots-focused campaign. Our field operation is entirely composed of volunteers, and our literature is also all printed by volunteers. Together, we've knocked on over 850 doors so far this month.

About the Endorsement Process

All campaigns seeking a DFA endorsement are first required to complete the endorsement application in order to be considered. Members of the DFA Political team will review applications after submission and make endorsement decisions on a rolling basis throughout the applicable election cycle.

The driving force behind all DFA endorsements is our membership. We gauge DFA member support in a number of different ways. For starters, supporters can publicly show their support on any candidate’s application page. We also utilize endorsement decisions of local DFA groups as a measure of local community support. Finally, if you know a candidate deserving of a DFA endorsement who hasn’t yet applied, we want to hear about them! Please visit the Endorsement FAQ page for answers to frequently asked questions about our endorsement process.

If you still have any questions, or want to let us know about a candidate in your neighborhood, please call us at (802) 651-3200 or email us at [email protected] .
