Agi Kessler for Region 12 Director

Who am I?

I was inspired by Howard Dean's candidacy and have never looked back. I was first elected to the Democratic State Central Committe (DSCC) in 2005 and have served on the California Democratic Party (CDP) Executive Board each term since. Additionally, I serve on the CDP Resolutions Committee.

I work in healthcare in an under served community and currently focus on Electronic Medical Records implementation.

Why am I running?

I believe I am the best candidate for the job of Region 12 Director. I have consistently demonstrated a strong work ethic both in grassroots and party work. I keep my promises and believe in commitments!

Region 12 is newly formed after re-districting and is made up of Assembly Districts 39, 45, 46 and 50. The vast majority of the area is made up of the San Fernando Valley where I am well known. As the Chair of the Democratic Party of the San Fernando Valley (DPSFV) under my leadership, with the help of many outstanding grassroots activists, we have built to largest GOTV organization in California. I have also formed good relationship with many delegates from the 50th AD (formerly the 41st AD) which is the district I had been in for many years.

I am familiar with the CPD bylaws, I know Roberts Rules, and am know to be fair when running meetings or dealing with disputes. I believe I can fairly represent the 172 DSCC members from Region 12 while carrying out the duties assigned to me by the CDP.

My Goals

Regional Director has the opportunity to bring information to the DSCC members they would otherwise not receive. That has been missing in our Region in the past. Reports from Executive Board meetings, conference calls, etc. will be an important way to involve DSCC members in CDP activities. I commit to provide that information.

I also will continue to make myself available to DSCC members to anaswer questions, provide information and direction whenever needed.

My DFA Values

I belong the Valley Grassroots for Democracy where we work consistently on DFA values. Currently we are fighting to stop Fracking, we are working with the Brady Campaign, and have started working with CHIRLA on Immigration Issues.

About the Endorsement Process

The driving force behind all DFA endorsements is our members. We recognize that all politics is local and that what is considered progressive in Los Angeles may be very different from what's considered progressive in Louisville. For this reason, DFA does not have a litmus test of specific progressive positions for which a candidate must stand. Our endorsement is heavily weighted based on these questions:

• Will the candidate move the progressive movement forward in their community?
• Does the candidate have substantial support from our local members?
• Do the candidate's positions and policies fit into the broader progressive movement?
• Is the campaign people-powered and the candidate working to win?

If you have questions, or want to let us know about a candidate in your neighborhood, please call us at (802) 651-3200 or email us at [email protected] .
