Why am I running?

General Positions for the Primary and General Election.

"The number of issues facing our state daunt us all"

Women - Women's Rights, Women's Reproductive Healthcare, Support for finally passing the ERA, Equal Pay for Equal Work, and more.

Equality - Equality for ALL, not just the Rich or any other selected FEW.

Public Education - Equal access to early education so that all kids have a chance to arrive at first grade with close to equal skills is a must. Solid funding for teacher training, followed by mentoring if and when needed, only makes sense. And putting the actual education of our future members of society not voucher, not high-stakes testing, but actual education that teaches kids to think critically and to become citizens in a diverse society with an opportunity to try any subject or class they want--should be as mandatory now as our Founder John Adams suggested it was to the other founders when they were in the planning stages for our republic. Adams stated that public education must be for all children, and "no expense for this purpose would be thought extravagant.”

Economy - Support the Middle Class, because it is the buying power of the Middle Class, when allowed to have any by the 1%, that actually creates jobs and brings prosperity to all, even the wealthy.

Immigration - The U.S. is a Patch Quilt of culturally diverse unique immigrants.
Each adds to the marvelous whole.

Labor - Those who fought and died to build unions built the Middle Class in this country. They also raised the standards for everyone else in wages, in working conditions, in working hours and week-ends, in benefits. We all owe a debt of gratitude to Labor and the Unions!

Healthcare - Tens of thousands of people die in this supposedly advanced country every year because they can't afford health insurance! This is the richest country on earth. YES, we can afford it.

Environment - Millions in this country completely eschew science and believe, therefore, they have no responsibility or responsibilities when it comes to our precious environment or the dangerous climate change which is occurring all around us. As a progressive I can see the damage, can see what's happening to people around the world, including the U.S, and support sustainable living, reusable energies, protecting species, and much research in all these areas.

My Goals

Equality - Equality for ALL, not just the Rich or any other selected FEW.

About the Endorsement Process

The driving force behind all DFA endorsements is our members. We recognize that all politics is local and that what is considered progressive in Los Angeles may be very different from what's considered progressive in Louisville. For this reason, DFA does not have a litmus test of specific progressive positions for which a candidate must stand. Our endorsement is heavily weighted based on these questions:

• Will the candidate move the progressive movement forward in their community?
• Does the candidate have substantial support from our local members?
• Do the candidate's positions and policies fit into the broader progressive movement?
• Is the campaign people-powered and the candidate working to win?

If you have questions, or want to let us know about a candidate in your neighborhood, please call us at (802) 651-3200 or email us at endorsements@democracyforamerica.[email protected] .
