Karen Guerra for Judge
| Name: | Karen Guerra for Judge |
| Office: | 16th District Court of Denton County |
| Website: | electkarenguerra.com |
Background:
I am the first Democratic Party candidate to seek a judicial office in Denton County, Texas, in over 20 years. I am the most qualified candidate for this position. I have over 19 years of trial experience, and have handled nearly every type of case that comes before the District Court. More importantly, I will bring the balanced perspective that comes from handling both sides of disputes. I have been certified in Family Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization since 1995. Although my practice in recent years has primarily been devoted to family law cases, I also have extensive experience in handling personal injury cases, criminal law matters, contract disputes, and property disputes.
Goals:
It is my goal to give the citizens of Denton County a good justice system. This will include shortening the delays in resolving cases, treating litigants and attorneys with respect, and rendering decisions based on the law and the evidence, without bias.
Issues:
Our legal system is the foundation that protects and guarantees our Constitutional rights. It is extremely important to elect a Judge with knowledge of the law and with the right kind of experience to rule correctly. All people must have access to the Courts and equal treatment before the law. I will make impartial decisions without playing favorites for the special interests of the parties. I will be fair and impartial. I am offering experience, dedication, and integrity, and I am asking for your support.
Grassroots Support:
My campaign is a grassroots endeavor. We are working with a coordinated campaign initiative to help organize and enthuse the local party and my campaign is actively helping to organize precinct events, block walking, etc., to get the vote out.
DFA Values:
I graduated magna cum laude from the University of Texas Pan American in Edinburg, Texas, with a BBA degree in Finance. I was an early pioneer in the mediation movement, and in the 1980's, my husband and I provided mediation services and training programs for attorneys and other professionals throughout Texas. I have been married for 34 years to a wonderful man who was stricken with multiple sclerosis in 1996. I have a private law practice in Carrollton, Texas, and I understand the struggles of working women, small business owners, and families with health care concerns.
