Website: BetterFreehold.com

Background:

Doris Lin is an attorney, a wife, a mother and the Recording Secretary of the NJ Democratic State Committee's Progressive Caucus. She lived in Freehold Township as a child, and moved back as an adult in 1998. She has been the Executive Director of Asian Media Watchdog and was a leader in the Coalition Against Hate Media. Doris is also a vegan and an animal advocate, and is currently the Vice President of Legal and Legislative Affairs for the Bear Education and Resource Group. In 2007, she represented New Jersey Animal Rights Alliance and the Bear Education and Resource Group in their successful lawsuit against the NJ Department of Environmental Protection, invalidating the state's 5-year bear hunt plan. She has volunteered for a number of Democratic campaigns, including the 12th District campaigns in 2007 and 2005. Doris is also the Secretary of the Freehold Township Democratic Club and is the Democratic Municipal Chair in Freehold Township. She earned her B.S. in Applied Biological Sciences from M.I.T., and her J.D. from the University of Southern California.

Goals:

Freehold Township is a great town, but we can do better. With my running mate Jennie Jeannette Mistretta, I will work towards more transparency and I will listen to the concerns of Freehold Township residents to make this town even better.

Issues:

1. End hunting in Turkey Swamp Park
2. Protect the environment through governmental leadership
3. Reduce spending through shared services and the elimination of wasteful spending

Grassroots Support:

Our campaign will rely heavily on grassroots organizing. Because our campaign reflects our values, we plan do more with less and will need volunteers to help us spread our message.

DFA Values:

Doris is a member of several progressive organizations, including Human Rights Campaign, Planned Parenthood, the NJ Democratic State Committee's Progressive Caucus, NJ Environmental Federation, and NJ Animal Rights Alliance. She also participated in the DFA training in April, 2008. As a progressive candidate, Doris will work to cut wasteful spending, and enact meaningful pay to play legislation in Freehold Township.
