Who am I?

Marci Radcliffe grew up in Warren, Ohio. Graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in 2001. Marci has always had an interest in civil and volunteer service. She began volunteering at the local children’s hospital by visiting young children diagnosed with terminal illnesses. She spent time playing games of monopoly and making crafts with other kids after her own battle with childhood leukemia at the young age of ten. When asked about this she responded that her fondest memory was making candy canes into reindeer with plastic “googly” eyes and pipe cleaners then passing them out to hospital residents and guests. “That always garnered a smile.”

She graduated from Penn State University in 2011 with an Associate’s Degree in Business Management. Marci is a full-time student at Penn State University - World Campus, now pursuing her Baccalaureate Degree in Business Administration. Marci has worked with First National Bank of Pennsylvania for the past eight years. The last four have been with the investment banking division.

Marci met her husband Brendon Radcliffe in 2001. They married in 2007 and purchased their first home in Hermitage in 2010. Brendon is a Project Designer and Web Developer at The Primary Health Network in Sharon, Pa. Marci & Brendon reside in their cozy home on Lyle Dr with their cat Katze and recently rescued an English Bulldog Miss Moneypenny.

Why am I running?

In early 2012 I received a call from several of Mercer County’s political leaders urging me to seek the office of Mercer County Treasurer. After mindful consideration and family discussions I have decided to accept the opportunity before me.

Being actively involved in civic and political issues for years, most recently as the Vice Chair of the Mercer County Democrat Committee, I have sought to create effective change in Mercer County politics. With that said, the position of Treasurer at its core is not a political position, it’s about experience. For the past four years I have been in investment banking at First National Bank of Pennsylvania I am qualified to safeguard taxpayers’ money in Mercer County. I am confident that I can bring some of the prudent investment ideas that I’ve garnered from my banking experience to the Courthouse in Mercer. My family and I now feel that the time has come for me to offer myself as a servant in the public arena.

I have also been actively involved in creating change in my community. I have served on the board of the Community Food Warehouse Annual 5K for the past three years. I am a member of Sharon Kiwanis and the Mercer County unit of the N.A.A.C.P. I have been a volunteer for community organizations including the Meals On Wheels, United Way of Mercer County, Shenango Valley Professionals (SVP), The American Heart Association, The American Cancer Society, The Shenango River Watchers, American Business Women’s Association (ABWA) and I am currently a member of Hermitage Parks & Recreation Board.

My Goals

I am excited at the possibility of serving the people of this great County. My opponent is quite set in her political career. She has been in office for a long time. Due to the peculiar layout of this large County and the cost to campaign the territory, she has been unopposed in several elections. This is one more reason I feel strongly that I must step forward and offer the voters of Mercer County a choice.

My top two goals for the first year of office are to bring a fresh perspective to the investment side of the Treasurer's office without incurring risk for the taxpayers. I want to update as many systems within the Treasurer's office to make them more user friendly and more efficient.

My Campaign is People Powered!

To be successful in this endeavor it will take a very strong and dedicated grass roots organization. I believe the voters of this County will step forward with my family in a united volunteer effort. As you may have guessed my team is already hard at work designing flyers, building winning strategies, and creating a user friendly campaign website. Each of them has volunteered to help knock on doors, place yard signs and of course, participate in any upcoming parades.
With thousands of stickers to purchase, hundreds of yard signs to order, scores of radio ads to place, and the entirety of Mercer County to cover, I will need help. I am turning to the people who have known me the longest, who know me best, and humbly inviting you to get involved in my campaign and help make a difference.

About the Endorsement Process

The driving force behind all DFA endorsements is our members. We recognize that all politics is local and that what is considered progressive in Los Angeles may be very different from what's considered progressive in Louisville. For this reason, DFA does not have a litmus test of specific progressive positions for which a candidate must stand. Our endorsement is heavily weighted based on these questions:

• Will the candidate move the progressive movement forward in their community?
• Does the candidate have substantial support from our local members?
• Do the candidate's positions and policies fit into the broader progressive movement?
• Is the campaign people-powered and the candidate working to win?

If you have questions, or want to let us know about a candidate in your neighborhood, please call us at (802) 651-3200 or email us at [email protected] .
