Jennie Jeannette Mistretta for Freehold Township Committee

Background:

Jennie Jeannette Mistretta has been a real estate agent since 1986 and a broker since 1991. She holds a BS in accounting from Kean College. She was elected to the Marlboro School Board in 1986 and served one 3yr term. She lived in Marlboro Township for 25 years with her family and has lived in Freehold Township since 1999. "JJ" as she is called in real estate was named Monmouth County Realtor Of The Year for 2007. She has been involved with the political legislative committee at Monmouth Cty Bd of Realtors for over ten years. She was directly involved with the campaign to save Fort Monmouth and continuing to monitor FMERPA revelopment of the fort.

Jennie Jeannette was a former President of United Cerebral Palsy of Monmouth and Ocean Counties and Scope an organization of parents and teachers for children with learning disabilities. JJ worked with the Citizen Campaign Group to bring Pay to Play Legislation to Monmouth County.

Goals:

To foster environmental issues and make Freehold Township green. To have a more open government where taxpayers can see and question how their tax dollars are spent. There should be share services and purchasing groups. Transparency in government is key to effective policies that move the citizens forward.

Issues:

Cut spending to give taxpayers relief. Allow more participation in local government from the people of all parties. No lip service to engery policy, just do it, make it happen. Engery independence starts from the grassroots we have not seen that from the top down. There must be oversight in our local government. Freehold township has had the same party in power for over twenty years, it is time for a shake up. Taxpayers need someone to question and not rubber stamp or conduct things behind closed doors.

Grassroots Support:

It will be paramount, running against an entrenched party is always a uphill battle. Exposure, and any effort on the part of grassroots supporters can put life into the campaign of a candidate.

DFA Values:

Full disclosure to the public and truly watching where tax dollars are spent. Work with other towns in sharing services and purchasing. There are great groups out there in other areas making a defference. Anything can be achieved if you work at it. Government should be inclusive, give people a seat at the table, new and wonderful things can be achieved.
