Taddeo for Congress
| Name: | Taddeo for Congress |
| Office: | U.S. Congress |
| Website: | voteTaddeo.com |
Background:
Annette Taddeo is a mother, wife, and successful small business owner. Annette has dedicated her life to her community, working to improve access to education, healthcare, and jobs through volunteering, mentoring youth, and her work as a business community leader.
Annette is running for Congress to put her experience to work in Washington and to bring much-needed change to Florida’s 18th Congressional District.
Goals:
Annette Taddeo Democrat Annette Taddeo is a businesswoman, not a career politician. She is running to change the way Washington does business, so that special interests do not make off like bandits while working families pay the cost. As a mother and a small businesswoman, she understands how many families are living paycheck to paycheck and what it means to raise a family on a budget while the costs of living continue to increase. She will fight to keep money in the hands of middle-class taxpayers by taking on the prescription drug industry to lower prices, stopping the big oil companies from gouging us at the pump, and working to make hurricane and windstorm insurance affordable and accessible. Annette Taddeo is committed to making government accountable to the American people, not the lobbyists who have controlled Congress for too long.
Issues:
As our Congresswoman, Annette Taddeo will work to give every American access to affordable, quality health care. She supports allowing Medicare to negotiate directly with prescription drug companies to get the lowest possible prices for America's seniors, and she will fight for a prescription drug plan that really works. She will also support full funding for Florida's State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP).
Second, Annette Taddeo will put the needs of middle class families first for a change. She will work to reform the tax code to create good, new jobs, right here in the U.S.
Third, Annette Taddeo believes it is time for Iraqis to take responsibility for the security of Iraq, and to bring our troops home. The war in Iraq is costing American taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars a day. That is money that we desperately need here at home to invest in our schools, bring down the cost of health care, protect social security, and work toward energy independence.
Grassroots Support:
Grassroots organizing is playing and will continue to play a central role in our campaign. Headquarters is already buzzing with interns working night and day, and we have a great relationship with both local and national bloggers, who are helping to get out the word about Florida-18.
Grassroots and netroots support was integral to winning back Congress in 2006, and they will be integral to turning this district from Red to Blue in 2008.
DFA Values:
Annette Taddeo says: "If I ran my company the way that President Bush and Congressional Republicans have run the government, I would have been out of business a long time ago."
We need to restore fiscal discipline to government, and stop passing the buck for Bush's reckless fiscal policies to our children and grandchildren. When I am in Congress, I will work to fix the dramatic imbalances that have emerged over the past seven and a half years.
Annette also believes strongly in equality for all Americans, regardless of race, religion, gender, or sexual orientation. The American Dream must be something that all Americans can achieve, without exception.
