Name: Wyka For Congress
Office: Congressman
Website: tomwyka.com

Background:

I was born in New Jersey, raised in Clifton, graduated from Bucknell University, received my MBA from Seton Hall University in 1993. My lovely wife Betty and I live in Parsippany Troy Hills with our two beautiful children, Brielle and Tyler.I have worked in the information technology industry as a certified project manager for over 17 years.

Goals:

In November of 2004, I heard "2006 starts now," and I started becoming more involved in local Democratic politics. In January of 2006 I attended Camp Wellstone and I heard “we are the leaders we have been waiting for" and I declared my candidacy for Congress, ran a strong race, and I'm running again in 2008.

Issues:

Accountable Government
People think that the influence of money in politics is inextricable, and it's often said that "money is the mother's milk of politics". My response is that after all this time - I think our Democracy has matured enough to move onto to a new stage of life. Everyone has to ask themselves if this is the democracy you want or the one you settle for.
Homeland Security
It is the responsibility of every member of Congress to ensure that their constituents are kept safe from foreign threats. In this time of increased instability the possibility for a terrorist attack on a port, chemical plant, or nuclear power plant in New Jersey is on the rise. Sadly, our current administration and its backers in congress, including Representative Frelinghuysen, have done nothing substantial to shore up our home defenses.
Iraq
There are a number of claims that need to be openly addressed in order to have an informed debate about our situation in Iraq. Anyone who truly supports the troops know they deserve better leadership. Anyone who truly believes in the responsible use of our armed services and financial resources of our country – should demand accountability from their representative in Washington.

Grassroots Support:

As a founding member of Morris County DFA and a graduate of Camp Wellstone, I have been working at party building and grass-roots activism locally since 2004.
I know first-hand the importance of canvassing and phone banking. I believe in reaching out to each voter; one to one contact is the best way to reach the people.

DFA Values:

The business and philosophy programs at Bucknell had a strong ethical component, where I learned that the corporation’s responsibility to the community was equal to its responsibility to its shareholders.
I look to restore the progressive tax system.I support labor union rights in the private sector.I seek to improve trade policies that are currently hurting the American worker. The goal should always be to create the greatest good for the greatest number, while still awarding the high achievers for their efforts – two ideas that when they are fully in balance – make us great as a nation.
