Who am I?

My name is Mark Dunec and I am a businessperson, community leader and family man. I would be honored and privileged to represent you in Congress.

I make my living as a professional problem solver working in a global management consulting firm. In my line of work we value results, which is exactly what I will bring to Washington. In the business world, budget deficits are unthinkable and fiscal cliffs are unacceptable. Shouldn’t we expect government to solve these problems? I think our elected officials need to be held accountable to the highest standards, because government represents you, the taxpayer.

My plan is to tackle our country’s complex issues with common sense and a detailed approach to problem solving.

Why am I running?

Leadership. Action. Results. My entire campaign is based on these three simple words. The current Congress lacks the leadership and courage to take bold action and reasonable steps to deliver results. Why? Both parties have been hijacked by special interest groups. Many of our elected representatives are polarizing figures who focus their time trying to score political points and supporting ideologies that the average American does not support. The result is inaction from a “do nothing congress.”

We all know family, friends and neighbors who are struggling in today’s economy. Instead of focusing on jobs, jobs, jobs, Congress is focusing on issues that pertain to special interest groups which financially support their respective campaigns. Our number one priority must be getting people back to work. For me, that’s what this election is about.

I am running for Congress based on the following three principles:

I will work across the aisle to tackle and solve the problems that face our district and country;
I will embrace good ideas without regard to rigid ideology or strict party affiliation;
I will be honest and transparent. You will always know where I stand on any given issue.
I have built my career as a management consultant, solving complex business problems and I will apply this same skill set in Congress. Through leadership, action and results, together we will change Washington.

I am truly looking forward to the race ahead and serving as your elected Representative.

My Goals

My desire to represent the people of New Jersey’s 11th Congressional District is not about voting yes or no on votes that reach the floor of the House. My desire is to bring reasonable, balanced and passable solutions to the House which will move our country forward.

My DFA Values

I am championing corporate tax reform, universal healthcare and reduce special interest influence. I am a Managing Director in a management consulting firm. As a professional problem solver, I always had to work with colleagues, third party professionals, clients and sometimes even our competitors to solve complex problems. My plan is to do the same in Washington.

My Campaign is People Powered!

I have been working very closely with organized labor. In fact I already received 5 endorsements and have assisted union leaders on potential construction projects in the local community.

I have been working very closely with OFA leadership in Essex/Morris County New Jersey.

About the Endorsement Process

The driving force behind all DFA endorsements is our members. We recognize that all politics is local and that what is considered progressive in Los Angeles may be very different from what's considered progressive in Louisville. For this reason, DFA does not have a litmus test of specific progressive positions for which a candidate must stand. Our endorsement is heavily weighted based on these questions:

• Will the candidate move the progressive movement forward in their community?
• Does the candidate have substantial support from our local members?
• Do the candidate's positions and policies fit into the broader progressive movement?
• Is the campaign people-powered and the candidate working to win?

If you have questions, or want to let us know about a candidate in your neighborhood, please call us at (802) 651-3200 or email us at [email protected] .
