Who Am I?

The Early Years
Freda Sherman was born August 28th, in Miami Florida to Dr. Clementine Sherman and James (Freddie) Sherman. She is the middle child, with two older siblings Yolanda and Regina, and one younger sibling Jakrita. She was the only child born in the early morning. Freda was the inspirational child, the one with a vision and passion for others. She began community service at a young age, visiting sick people in Jackson Memorial Hospital as a candy striper. She worked on a family friend's political campaign-by passing out campaign literature and knocking on doors at the tender age of 14.

Through the Years
Freda graduated from American Senior High School in 1990. Her favorite activities were running track and cross country, as well as participating in the Drama Club. After graduation Freda attended Clark Atlanta University where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1994. She later attended Nova Southeastern University where she received a Master's of Science degree in Management and Administration of School Programs in 2003.

Family Life
Freda and her husband Daric, a union employee met at Jesus People Ministries where they were both members. In 1997, Freda and Daric married in Fort Lauderdale, after two years of dating. Together they share their love with Prince (Schnauzer), Princess (Border Collie), and Duchess (Collie). The family resides in theTown of Davie.

Faith
Freda is a member of Living Word Open Bible Church, of Cooper City.

Career
Freda is the executive director of GAACS, a woman and minority owned business that accredits preschools, elementary and secondary schools, and postsecondary institutions throughout the State of Florida.

Community Involvement
Freda's community involvement includes working on various local, state and national political campaigns; as well as volunteering her time and talent in civic/community organizations including:
a) Broward Black Caucus-Press Secretary
b) DBCF Policies and Procedures Committee-Chair
c) Florida Democrats for Life of America-President
d) Member of Broward Democratic Executive Committee
e) Women In Distress-Speaker's Bureau
