Who am I?

I was born and raised in a small community in southern Wisconsin. I relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1989, then to Pahrump, Nevada in 1995. I have raised four children, three daughters and one son, here in Nye County. I am now the grandmother of six. Additionally, I am the guardian and caretaker for a younger brother who is afflicted with Down's Syndrome.
I have been married to my soul mate and best friend for 20 years. Looking forward to the next 20.

Why am I running?

I was hired at a private law office prior to graduating with my AA degree in Paralegal Studies, from Las Vegas College. I began as a Receptionist, and within the year, I became the Office Manager and Lead Paralegal. I remained in that position until June of 2003.

In June 2003 I was hired as a Nye County Deputy Clerk/Recorder. I enjoyed this position because it was so diverse, there was so much to learn, above and beyond what I had already learned, through my legal background.

I interviewed for the position of Chief Deputy Clerk in late 2006 and was accepted into the position in early July 2007. I became supervisor for the Pahrump Clerk's office and was second in command in that office.

Throughout my career, I educated myself in the majority of District Court proceedings. I took great pride in my position and my ability to help people, with the administrative requirements of the Court. We maintained a courteous and professional atmosphere, that was also welcoming to the public.

With a decade's worth of experience in the Pahrump office as a "working Supervisor," I am confident that I am a qualified candidate for this position. I maintained positive working relationships with all of the other local departments in Pahrump, while managing the office here. I thank you for your support and look forward to being of continued service to you and all of Nye County.

My Goals

I worked in the local Clerk's office for 10 years. I was inspired to run for this position almost immediately after being hired in 2003. I have seen what works as well as what doesn't and am confident the changes that will be made will benefit any customer of the Clerk's office.

My DFA Values

I want to be the change in local government to bring transparency to out local community, provide trust in the workings of our office and make sure that everyone is treated equally and with respect, regardless of race, creed, color, gender, orientation and/or religion.

My Campaign is People Powered!

I am a member of Progressive Democrats of America - Southern Nevada Chapter, where I not only donated to their #Rally4Rights event, but also attended and a member of Democracy For America - Southern Nevada. I have the full support of both of these groups. The organizers from Democracy For America have arranged events where I am their central speaker and now that the primary is over, they are arranging more events where I can promote Equality for all and transparency in government.

About the Endorsement Process

The driving force behind all DFA endorsements is our members. We recognize that all politics is local and that what is considered progressive in Los Angeles may be very different from what's considered progressive in Louisville. For this reason, DFA does not have a litmus test of specific progressive positions for which a candidate must stand. Our endorsement is heavily weighted based on these questions:

• Will the candidate move the progressive movement forward in their community?
• Does the candidate have substantial support from our local members?
• Do the candidate's positions and policies fit into the broader progressive movement?
• Is the campaign people-powered and the candidate working to win?
