Who Am I?
I was born in New Bedford, Massachusetts in 1979. I graduated Dartmouth High School in 1997 and then continued my education at the National Joint Apprenticeship Council where I studied the electrical trade. I was educated in every aspect of the trade from basic applications to business management.
I joined IBEW local 99 in Providence Rhode Island in 2002 which where he continues his profession.
I am a working class, blue collar candidate dedicated to defending the working family and small businesses. I ams a 30 year old family man with a wife and two young children.
I am an electrician by trade and driven by a passion for increasing the middle class and building a better future for our next generation.
I have been active in local politics and take great pride in fighting for the common good. I sit on the Alternative Energy Committee for the town of Dartmouth and I am also an elected town meeting member.
I am also the current chairman of the Democratic Party in Dartmouth, Massachusetts.
When I'm not involved in politics I volunteer on various boards and organizations. I sit on the board of Directors for the Burgo Basketball Association and I am also involved with Dartmouth Youth Athletic Association where my oldest son plays baseball.
Why Am I Running?
I am running to be the advocate for the working family and small businesses. I am tired of large irresponsible corporations coming into this district and using taxpayer's hard earned money to finance their businesses. There needs to be some sense of responsibility toward the employees. If a corporation receives tax dollars as a subsidy or tax break, some of that tax savings should be passed onto the employee.
I want to strengthen our vocational and career training in our schools so we can prepare our students for a very competitive global market. By strengthening our educated workforce we can and will attract good paying jobs with good benefits to our area.
My inspiration to run for public office is my children, I understand fully that the policies we make today will affect them in the future. We are setting the path that they will walk when they are adults. I want to ensure the next generation has as many opportunities and more than I had.
Hold Me Accountable!
Good Paying Jobs, education and property tax relief are some of the top issues Ray is concerned with.
The economy and education go hand in hand. If we build an educated workforce in specific industries that provide a living wage we can build and expand our local economy, along with the middle class.
Property tax is becoming a burden to many middle class working families and the elderly. We can lower or at least level off our property taxes if we can reduce the amount of tax dollars going to irresponsible companies. Essentially homeowners are subsidizing large corporations through tax incentives and not getting a good return on their investments.
My DFA values:
I am pro-same sex marriage, pro-union and pro-choice.
In regards to same sex marriage, I believe marriage is a right for all who love eachother.
In regards to labor union, I am a member of IBEW local 99 and understand that a union provides protections and a living wage for employees and establishes democracy in the workplace.
In regards to being pro-choice. I know abortion is a hard choice. I also understand that making it illegal will do nothing to solve the abortion issue. Safe, legal and rare is what we must strive for. Sex education and the availability of contraceptives are two ways that we can reduce the amount of abortions in Massachusetts and the Country.
My Campaign is People-Powered!
I have been involved with community organizations for close to two years and I am leaning on them to help with this campaign.
A small coalition of working class people have banded together and knocked on many doors, mailed personal letters to friends and family within the district.
I am not part of the political establishment, I am an outsider, so he is relying on everyday people to fund and volunteer to help bring the working class back to the forefront of Massachusetts policies.
Election for this campaign has passed.
