Why Am I Running?

People in my district are fed up with the stalemate in Congress. The local opinion is, it does not matter if you send a Democrat or Republican to Washington. Anyone who claims a party affiliation will spend their time on the party agenda and ignore the needs of the citizens.

I am the alternative to Washington "politics-as-usual". On my website I show how voting for me will take the people's chance to make a difference back to Congress. Voting for me is a clear statement that party politics is dead and Congress must find a different way to operate.

Hold Me Accountable!

Jobs - we are struggling to find alternatives to the manufacturing jobs that were exported to foreign countries. The Internet has brought new jobs to some areas but a third of the 2nd District has only a dial-up service available. Bringing high-speed to southeast Oklahoma will open new possibilities. The current infrastructure legislation must include this.

Poverty - without well-paying jobs many of our residents live hand-to-mouth on basic entitlement programs currently being cut by Congress. These citizens are in the cross-hairs of party politics and have no voice to protect them. I will be that voice.

Tools to grow with - the economy went south and the first programs to be cut are those who help people trying to start new businesses. That is bad economics and a slap in the face to every person who shares the entrepreneur spirit that made America great. I have worked with clients of the Small Business Development Centers and part of my goal is to make sure people plan well before gambling their life savings. It isn't enough to wish to do well - you must plan for doing badly if you want to survive. I will encourage these programs to reach out to communities to help build new small businesses to replace the corporate giants who have abandoned America for cheap overseas labor.
