Who Am I?
I am an attorney, advocate, activist and author. I have lived in Concord, NH my whole life where I have been an adoption attorney and have practiced education and healthcare law for 25 years and where I have raised my two boys, Zach and Travis with my husband Brad.
I co-authored a book about aging and Alzheimer's with my mother, Susan McLane, who served in the New Hampshire legislature for decades. I have also been an activist for choice, most recently joining NARAL and pro-choice advocates in DC to oppose the Stupak Amendment.
I have worked to elect progressive, pro-choice candidates in NH and the US since 1972, when I worked on a presidential campaign to help end the Vietnam War during the NH Primary.
Why Am I Running?
To break the gridlock in Congress with a new, grassroots approach to problem solving and to truly represent the interests of hardworking, New Hampshire families.
Hold Me Accountable!
To help pass legislation that will put people back to work and to continue to work on and improve the healthcare situation for Americans.
My DFA values:
I believe in Community, Security and Liberty, and these are the reasons I am running for Congress. We will only find success in New Hampshire and across the country if we work together and strengthen our communities. Our campaign works to foster community among our staff, supporters, donors, volunteers, and voters across the district and in the country. We need to work hard to have a strong economy, nationally and locally, because every person deserves a fair chance to succeed. This means access to quality education, quality healthcare, and a chance to live the American Dream.
Security means more than protecting our borders. We need to reach out and form partnerships with other nations to promote long term safety and prosperity. I am an advocate for peace and have campaigned against the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. But equally important is that people need to feel safe in their homes and communities, and we need to keep our environment clean and secure so that we can proudly pass it on to future generations.
Finally, discrimination in America is not acceptable and I will work to promote fairness, equality and liberty for all.
My Campaign is People-Powered!
1. Since April 2011, we have had over 11,000 contributions to our campaign.
2. In the 2010 cycle we organized and I attended over 130 house parties across the district.
