General Election Date: 11/06/2012
Who Am I?
KP George is a Democratic candidate for TEXAS Congressional District 22, which is located in the southwest area of Houston(Currently under the redistricting process).
KP wants to employ his professional skills and life experiences to ensure all citizens have a voice, work toward a better District 22, better Texas and a better America for our children and grand children.
KP grew up in a tiny village in South India which, to date, has no electricity or running water. He began his education learning the local language, walking barefoot across two miles of hilly countryside to get to school. Even as he did his homework in his straw hut by the light of a kerosene lamp and helped his parents farm and raise cattle before and after school, KP dreamed of achieving his greatest goal: coming to the land of opportunity and living the American Dream.
His hard work and stellar grades propelled him out of the poverty of his hometown and to the state university, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree. He arrived in the US in 1993 to work for a financial firm only a few years after he learned English, and has since earned multiple financial certifications and licenses. KP currently owns and operates an independent financial planning practice with 5 other Financial Planners.
Since 1999, KP and his wife Sheeba have raised their three children in Sugar Land, and have been very active in their church and its philanthropic efforts in the Houston area. For the past 7 years, KP has also worked with the less fortunate in South India to help them climb out of poverty through determination and perseverance as he did. KP has also served local Indo-American groups at high levels, worked with the Sugar Land Rotary Club, and is a member of the Fort Bend Chamber of Commerce.
Why Am I Running?
KP believes his life experiences those of hardship and seemingly insurmountable obstacles and the values he learnt along the way enterprise and value for hard-earned money will help him better serve the hardworking people of Texas CD-22. His advanced qualifications in professional finance management will allow him to ensure that our tax Dollars are spent in a transparent, efficient, responsible manner.
KP George is very thankful that God has given him the opportunity to live the Dream. Now, he wants to give back to the community and help others do the same by serving as your Congressman for District 22.
Hold Me Accountable!
Reviving the Economy and Putting Citizens Back to Work
As an accredited financial professional, I have learned the best economic principles on how to make and save money. Small businesses and everyday workers are the vibrant force that makes the world turn, thus our country’s most important asset is the preservation of these businesses and individuals.
The key to a successful economy is a balanced budget. However, in order to maintain a balanced budget or any budget at all, we must work towards having money circulate in the American economy, which translates into—creating more jobs.
Small businesses and middle class citizens have proven their prominence as the power engine of the American economy for centuries. Since the largest group of consumers comes from middle class citizens, their monetary assets are incredibly important. If middle class citizens are not making money, then consequently the economy will suffer as it is now.
In order to support small businesses, we must provide tax benefits and incentives to hire more. Along with tax cuts and incentives, providing a better education for young Americans will guide the middle class to make and spend money.
Furthermore, blessed with the abundance of natural resources in Texas, the energy industry is a guaranteed source to help Texas rebuild the economy. Increasing oil production would bring more revenue into the state and thus, create even more jobs—from truckers, engineers, and to construction workers just to name a few. Every citizen would benefit.
Medicare and Social Security
The biggest challenge to balancing the budget is Medicare and Social Security. Many “career politicians” have placed these major programs that millions of Americans, especially our senior citizens, depend on first on the chopping board.
For instance, Congressman Paul Ryan seeks to balance the budget by eliminating the Medicare programs and replacing it with private insurance. What is this? Back to insurance payments, deductions, and rejections of claims? If that were not bad enough, the current Congressman of District 22, Pete Olson, voted for this plan on 4/15/11. These Washington insiders have obviously traded your interests for the interests of big corporations. Hold your Representatives accountable on the cold, hard facts of their track record. As a fellow citizen, look past the rhetoric and judge them on their deeds.
Medicare and Social Security are essential programs to support our citizens. Without Medicare and Social Security, how can we ensure the welfare of our working class population?
I am fighting to ensure that the quality of life for the average American citizen is never compromised in order to appease large corporations, and when elected I will fight to make sure these programs do not become victim to the plague of career politicians and Washington insiders. I am here to protect your interest over the interest of lobbyists.
In fact, I will cut funding abroad before I let one American citizen lose their life to lack of healthcare. A society’s first priority is their citizens, especially their senior citizens. Our seniors have served our country through various ways throughout their lives and its time for our country to serve them.
Education
Our children are the key to preserving the future of America. Today’s students are tomorrow’s leaders; to keep up in this increasingly global community, education needs to be a priority that is never compromised. Teachers need jobs, and they are the lifeblood of the educational system. As a financial planner, I believe that allocating money for education is not an expense but a vital investment for our future. When we are helping balance the budget, education should be last on the list since it is first for our nation’s future.
My wife, Sheeba (a public school teacher), and I have been blessed with three high-achieving children who along with maintaining grades participate in various community activities. However, I am concerned with the 40% of Texas high-school seniors that are not graduating.
I strongly believe that we need to prioritize education and reverse this low graduation rate.
Teachers provide invaluable resources, instruction, and guidance that empowers students to realize their personal and professional goals, to become responsible, productive citizens, and to pursue the American Dream.
Good learning environments will be fanciful dreams with career politicians in office, as most classrooms will be crowded beyond reasonable teacher-student ratios. There are only a limited number of hours a teacher can spend grading and working with students. As increasing class sizes lead to an unmanageable workload, teachers will be forced to give fewer assessments and devote significantly less time per student.
This adversely affects the education of our children, and I find it deplorable that we have compromised so much on a quality education for our children. Present and future students, who must become the leaders and innovators of the future, are falling behind in an increasingly competitive global economy.
As your Congressman, I will fight to balance the budget and support our schools, children, and educators at the Federal level.
My DFA values:
As I go door-to-door listening to what you and your neighbors are most concerned about in these difficult times, the worries I hear over and over again are the same issues my wife and I discuss around our dining table. I want you to know I’m running to tackle these problems with a principled, sensible, value-driven approach that’s been missing in Washington for a while now—all for the sake of my children and yours.
I fought impossible odds to leave the impoverished, rural village in India where I was born and raised, and faced even steeper challenges when I came to America to pursue my American dream. Over the past 18 years here, I’ve learned the true value of hard-earned money, a great education, and showing compassion for your neighbor.
As your Congressman, I plan to put these lessons to work by making decisions that will best serve you, the American citizen.
You’re worried that not enough is being done to ensure economic recovery that benefits the middle class, nor is enough being done to set a firm foundation for the future.
So am I.
·I believe it’s high time we implement solutions for a real economic recovery—a jobs recovery for Main Street,
not a boost for special interests and lobbyists.
·I believe, as a financial professional, the key to a successful economy is a balanced budget because no financial
entity can survive without one.
·I believe, as a husband of a public school teacher and a proud father of three, it’s completely wrong to see our
education system weakened even further by Washington insiders more intent on protecting their lobbyist friends
than ensuring our kids’ ability to compete in a global economy.
·I believe in empowering the middle class citizens, who are the foundation of our nation, by fighting for job
creating policies and educational funding.
You’re worried special interests are calling the shots in Washington.
You should be.
·I believe it’s fundamentally wrong when squads for special interests-lobbyists on Capitol Hill are drowning our
representatives in “donations” and “gifts,” ensuring that subsidies and tax loop holes for their patrons remain in
place, as Social Security, Medicare, and education funding are cut.
·Pete Olson, the current Congressman for District 22, has accepted $1,175,743.00 from lobbyists and special
interest groups (Source: http://www.fec.gov).
·I believe in never accepting money from lobbyists or special interest groups, and as a hard-working
American citizen, I will represent you, the citizen, and not the lobbyist.
My promise to you is to never accept a penny of special interest money, and as a working class citizen, I will represent you, the citizen regardless of race, gender, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, or religious beliefs, and not the lobbyist. And that’s why I need your help.
·I believe in protecting Medicare and Social Security, essential programs many American seniors depend on,
from the chopping board of budget cuts.
·On April 15, 2011, the current Congressman of District 22, voted to eliminate Medicare and -replace it with private
insurance. (http://www.votesmart.org/issue_keyvote_detail.php?cs_id=34563&can_id=102008).
·I believe in never compromising the American quality of life to appease special interests and will do my very best to
make sure programs such as Medicare and Social Security cease to be threatened with crippling budget cuts.
You’re worried that career politicians are taking this country down the wrong path.
They are.
·I believe serving in the U.S. Congress is an honor, and not a profession. I’m running because I strongly believe in my
country’s commitment to the middle class, its democratic principles, and its enormous potential for the future.
·I believe serving in the U.S. Congress is a high honor, not a career, and will fight for term limits to promote a
healthy democracy that does not host “career politicians” who forget why they are in Washington and who sent them
there.
·I believe many Washington insiders are disconnected from everyday working people of America.
·In fact, the current Congressman of District 22 sponsored a bill (H.R.3309) that attempted to delay an increased
minimum wage from coming into effect for one more year.

·The current Congressman has also received a blunt 0% rating in advocating or voting for policies that empower the
middle class (Source: http://themiddleclass.org).
You deserve direct, genuine representation. You deserve careful fiscal policies that will boost our economy by creating jobs for the middle-class. You deserve better—and so do our children.
Join me to help ensure a brighter future for them.
My Campaign is People-Powered!
My promise to you is to never accept a penny of special interest money, and as a working class citizen, I will represent you, the citizen regardless of race, gender, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, or religious beliefs, and not the lobbyist. And that’s why I need your help.
Furthermore, we have over 60 young volunteers (25 and younger) working hard to knock on doors, making phone calls, and spreading the word. It's imperative we engage young people to help make decisions for the future because they are our future.
