Who am I?

- Nationally recognized expert in renewable energy, including work on national security programs.
- Currently an energy consultant and CEO of an energy startup company

Why am I running?

I am running for Congress because George W. Bush and Richard Pombo are taking America in a direction that is unacceptable and I strongly feel I can help our country get back on the right track.

I ran in 2004 as a write-in candidate in the primary. Despite a late start and with no Washington support we received more votes than any challenger to Richard Pombo since Pombo was elected in 1992.

Our success in 2004 can be directly attributed to the involvement of DFA, from the Dean Dozen endorsement I received from DFA to the local DFA groups and individuals in California and across the country who contributed and volunteered for my campaign to defeat Richard Pombo.

My expertise is renewable energy, and my signature goal is to greatly reduce our dependence on foreign oil as our primary energy source. I will also work to achieve a progressive agenda and help bring an end to the culture of corruption that Republicans have brought to Washington.

Everywhere we go, folks tell us that they are tired of Pombo Politics. They want a representative who is honest, will bring integrity to Congress, and is accountable to the people -- not Washington lobbyists. We need to focus on solving problems that create a secure, healthy, and prosperous future for America and I believe I can be a catalyst for that change.

My Goals

Energy and the environment.
Universal health care.
The War in Iraq.

My DFA Values

My Campaign is People Powered!

I strongly believe in grassroots organizing, from Howard Dean's "50-state campaign" to our local efforts to establish a strong network of precinct captains across the district for 2006 and beyond. My support for grassroots organizing is one reason why our campaign was recently endorsed by the 2-million member California Labor Federation (AFL-CIO).

Because we believe in the grassroots, local DFA communities have enthusiastically supported my campaign and are already working hard doing precinct walking, phone banking and tabling.

To build our grassroots momentum and fuel the emerging Democratic presence that is developing here, we are empowering our supporters to get involved in their communities now so that we can build a winning foundation for Democrats in this district for years to come.

About the Endorsement Process

All campaigns seeking a DFA endorsement are first required to complete the endorsement application in order to be considered. Members of the DFA Political team will review applications after submission and make endorsement decisions on a rolling basis throughout the applicable election cycle.

The driving force behind all DFA endorsements is our membership. We gauge DFA member support in a number of different ways. For starters, supporters can publicly show their support on any candidate’s application page. We also utilize endorsement decisions of local DFA groups as a measure of local community support. Finally, if you know a candidate deserving of a DFA endorsement who hasn’t yet applied, we want to hear about them! Please visit the Endorsement FAQ page for answers to frequently asked questions about our endorsement process.

If you still have any questions, or want to let us know about a candidate in your neighborhood, please call us at (802) 651-3200 or email us at [email protected] .
