Mark Meadows for State Representative, 69th District
| Name: | Mark Meadows for State Representative, 69th District |
| Office: | State Representative, 69th District |
| Website: | MeadowsForRep.com |
Background:
58 years old. 25 years as Assistant Attorney General under former AG Frank Kelley and current Governor Jennifer Granholm. Now partner in East Lansing law firm. Mayor of East Lansing, 1997-2005. Did not run again in order to pursue 69th District seat. Participated in many campaigns (democrat) throughout the state.
Goals:
I am running in order to continue a tradition of strong democrat leadership in this House Seat. My predecessors have been outstanding. Michigan is lagging behind the rest of the nation in what little economic recovery we are seeing. Mid-Michigan, like other areas of the state, has seen a serious loss of manufacturing jobs, I want to legislatively provide the tools and incentives to save those jobs that we have remaining and support a transition to technology based and health care based jobs in our region. Many of these can be entry level and replace the entry level manufacturing jobs that we will never recover. We are seeing the end game of the heavy manufacturing age and the dawn of the technology age. I want to provide encouragement and opportunity for families and working men and women to transition to these new job opportunities.
Issues:
Expand the economy to provide jobs for working men and women, protect the environment so that our children and grandchildren can enjoy a healthy environment and the tremendous water resources we have, provide better funding for K-16 education, so that our greatest resource, our children can be part of the economic revival that we must encourage.
Grassroots Support:
My campaigns have always been organized on a neigborhood and precinct basis. Grassroots is the only way I know how to campaign.
DFA Values:
As a Mayor and councilmember, I have balanced budgets for 10 years in an era of declining revenues and state support. At the same time, East Lansing has continued a committment to programs assisting those in the greatest need in our community. With dedica
