Goals:

As I travel around Ohio campaigning for the United States Senate, I hear a common message echo throughout the state: Ohioans want change.

Since 2001, Ohio has lost more than 175,000 manufacturing jobs. Ohio college tuition skyrocketed by more than 60 percent. Prescriptions drug costs have soared, rising gas and home heating bills are ravaging family budgets and billions of our national security dollars are being diverted from homeland security to the war in Iraq.

For too long, our government has run as a profit center for multinational corporations and Washington lobbyists.

Congress must revamp U.S. trade policy to promote Ohio businesses and create good paying jobs here at home; provide a real prescription drug benefit for seniors and protect Social Security; fully fund No Child Left Behind and IDEA; fully fund homeland security programs to keep our borders and communities secure; protect our environment and Great Lakes; and bring our troops home from Iraq.

It is time to take back our government.

Grassroots Support:

Grassroots is at the very heart of my campaign. George Bush is hosting million-dollar fundraisers to reward him for supporting the failed Republican policies that have hurt Ohio families. My campaign is about uniting those families and working together to bring out change in Ohio. Through traditional field operations as well as online outreach, this is an 88-county race where every vote - and every Ohioan matters.

As a member of the United States House of Representatives, I have fought for fair trade policies, lower prescription drug prices, affordable access to heath care, quality education, funding to secure our borders, and for the values that promote thriving communities.

And as Ohio's next Senator, I will take my fight for social and economic justice to the United States Senate.
