Background:
With experience in business, education, and appointed government positions, I bring proven competence and leadership. Volunteering in the Dean campaign provided inspiration for my '04 campaign for this seat. I am ready for a rematch!
Goals:
Our Government needs responsible, caring leaders. When I am in Congress, I will fight for balanced budgets and priorities that help provide all Americans with the opportunities they deserve
Issues:
My campaign theme is pretty simple: Rights, Opportunities, and Security, for Everyone
Grassroots Support:
I am from the grassroots. I have ties locally and across the country with people who have decided to stand up to their responsibilites to influence the political process and to lead, following the example set by Governor Howard Dean. Congress needs more professional people and fewer professional politicians like my opponent Joe Pitts. I am connected to Democratic organizations in the congressional district, including the party and its precinct people as well as the DFA-born groups.
DFA Values:
American is greatest when it is about "we" and "us" rather than when it it suffers the corrosive effect of Republican rhetoric about personal and corporate profit. We can protect the rights of people - to free speech, to privacy, to a free press, to make personal and family health care decisions, and to worship or not in a way that is personal and private - while at the same time making responsible decisions about Government expenditures.
