Background:

Nearly 30 years as a union-side labor lawyer, civil rights and Constitutional lawyer. A lifetime of activism in grassroots Democratic politics and community-oriented social justice causes.

Goals:

I'm doing this because I'm mad as hell about what's been done and is being done to my country and my state. Gangsters are running the country. They came from Texas and left their junior partner gangsters in charge of the state, where they've stolen government from the people just like their senior partner gangsters in Washington have done to the country. Democracy is in danger and I take it as my personal responsibility to do everything I possibly can to restore government to the people. The Attorney General is the most powerful officer in Texas government. The office of Attorney General will provide powerful tools to kick the corporate elite and political power grabbers out of the way and give government back to the people. I intend to do it.

Issues:

Give government back to the people and restore democracy, by taking on the anti-Constitutional power grabbers, the Big Oil and Insurance tycoons, and all their cronies, and knocking them out of the saddle.

Grassroots Support:

The core message of my candidacy is restoring government to the people, and that requires restoring the political process to the people. I'm taking my campaign to the people all over the vast areas of rural Texas that the consultantocracy has forgotten about.

My courthouse to courthouse
"whistlestop tour" - takin' back Texas and takin' it to the people - is going to the county courthouses in every one of the 254 county seats in Texas. I talk to real people in the open air, in public places, not for staged photo-ops, but to talk to people and listen to people, to say what is on my mind and listen to what is on their mind. I'm conducting my statewide courthouse tour and my 24-hour long "Citizens' Filibusters" to renew the old culture of citizen engagement and self-government, wherein it is re-understood that the citizenry are not consumers of the political process; they are its producers.
