Democracy for New York will have its Third Annual Conference on May 5 and 6, 2007 in Albany. Please save the date!

This year will be our best conference yet! One of the major goals for DFNY for the next two years is to win New York State Senate and bring small d democracy to New York State. We have proven that with DFA groups leading the way, grassroots activism can win races here in New York up and down the ticket.

There will be workshops to review what we in the grassroots have right and what did not work in the 2006 cycle. We will discuss strategies for recruiting great candidates, for creating a buzz and ultimately winning races. There will be training for all sorts of activities, including using the strategies developed by Take 19 and 20 True Blue to win in the John Hall and Kirsten Gillibrand races. There is a lot of technology available and in development which you will want to know and learn.

Included on the speaker list are Jim Dean, Chair of DFA, Eric Massa, Democratic Candidate for the NY-29th CD, Amy Little, Campaign Manager of the successful John Hall for Congress campaign and Brian Keeler, NYBri, candidate for the NYS ??th District and founder of The Albany Project blog, and Bo Lipari, Director and Founder of New Yorkers for Verified Voting. Saturday evening we will showing the film "Taking the Hill" a documentary about five veterans who ran for Congress in 2006.

A LATE ADDITION:

Sunday morning we will have the pleasure of hearing from Patrick West. Patrick will do the "Inconvenient Truth" presentation with the same Power Point presentation produced by Vice-President Gore and seen in part throughout the film "An Inconvenient Truth." Patrick has been trained to the full original presentation.

Saturday evening, DFHMR has put together a dinner event. The conference dinner will be held at the Schuyler Inn, 575 Broadway in Menands the evening of Saturday, May 5. There will be a cash bar at 6 p.m. followed by a buffet dinner. Eric Massa is the keynote speaker and the movie "Taking the Hill" will be shown. The cost is $15 per person. Please RSVP separately for the dinner event at 518-330-0226.
