Lt. Col. Charlie Brown earned the 2007 DFA Grassroots All-Star endorsement because his campaign to beat ethically challenged, FBI raided Republican representative John Doolittle in California’s fourth congressional district is working to win. Our support for his campaign jump started his fund raising and raised his profile both in his district and on the national stage.

At the California State Convention in April, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi told democratic activists that electing Charlie Brown was a top priority. Just last week, Rep. Van Holden, Chair of the Democratic Congressional Committee told DFA members at Democracy for Maryland’s organizing conference that Charlie Brown’s election is a top priority. That’s a welcome change from 2006 and you deserve all the credit.

We’ve created momentum and the opposition has noticed. Karl Rove has targeted Doolittle’s seat as one of the top seats to defend in 2008 and the Republican National Committee has already sent mailers to distorting Charlie Brown’s position to voters in the district.
