Congressman Luis Gutierrez has announced he is retiring, making this an open seat. Open congressional seats, especailly in a solidly Democratic district like this one, are a very rare thing, so by gettingt involved in this race we can make sure that this one goes to a truly progressive candidate.

There are multiple canididates in the race, so it should be an exciting evening! We will also be discussing our last month's speaker, Congressional candidate Mark Pera, who will be challenging Bill Lipinski in the 3rd Congressional District in the February Democratic Primary.

This will be a joint meeting with the Chicago Metro chapter of Progressive Democrats of America (PDA).
