THE ONGOING FIGHT FOR HEALTHCARE REFORM:

- Kay Lasker will update us about the inroads Health Care for All PA and Health Care for All Philadelphia are making in Harrisburg, and the growing PA legislative support to fund a feasibility study on the impact on PA of a universal, single payer, statewide health care system.

- Bev Hahn will update us about a bill recently introduced by Allyson Schwartz (with Reps. DeLauro and Rockefeller) that is designed to help consumers compare alternative health care coverages "apples-to-apples" through clear, standardized language -- and avoid bait-and-switch tactics, arcane pricing schemes, and surprise coverage gaps. This bill would be a help even in today's private insurance hell -- um, universe. But it also would be essential for knowing exactly what is being included -- or ISN'T -- in any single payer plan, whether it's a consumer option in a hybrid system or a universal plan.

- We're reserving some time at the end so we can write postcards to legislators about health care issues.

If we keep up the fight, we can get real health care reform!
