What is Democracy for America?
Democracy for America (DFA) is a federal Political Action Committee (PAC), that finds, trains, and supports fiscally responsible and socially progressive candidates at all levels of office across the country. We harness the power of our enormous grassroots network to get these candidates elected and to work towards positive change from the bottom up. We provide organizational support and training opportunities to the hundreds of local DFA groups nationwide.
How is it different from local groups with "DFA" or "Democracy for" in their name?
Local and statewide DFA groups are neither formally nor legally associated with Democracy for America. They are independent organizations that share the same goals and values as DFA, not chapters of DFA. DFA provides tools, resources, and training to these groups.
Can I contact Gov. Howard Dean through DFA?
No. Gov. Dean is no longer associated with Democracy for America. He is now the Chairman of the Democratic National Committee. He can be reached through the DNC only.
I'm running for office, how do I get an endorsement?
Endorsements are heavily based on grassroots support. First, you'll need to fill out an application. Your campaign will then have a profile on DFA-Link. You must connect with local DFA groups in your area to gain their support, which they can voice on DFA-Link.
How do I get a training in my area?
The DFA Training Academy can only be in one city at a time. Trainings rely heavily on grassroots organization and involvement for logistics. If you feel that you are prepared to host a training in your city or town, you can email the training department.
How do I get my post promoted to the front page of Blog for America?
First and foremost, remember that Blog for America is Democracy for America's community blog. Posts that share success stories and grassroots reports are more likely to get promoted. Stylistically, good grammar and structure are a must. Also, posts should be substantive but reasonable in length. A short post of a couple sentences is unlikely to get promoted, but a tome won't get promoted either. Tell a good story in a clear, strong voice, and you'll most likely end up on the front page!
How is the "Most Popular" category determined on Blog for America?
As Blog for America evolves, so will the formula for determining a "popular" post. Factors taken into account include recommendations, comments, views, and other forms of activity.
