DNC Moneybomb - A Grassroots, Online Fundraiser

I am organizing an online fundraiser - a moneybomb - for the DNC to be held on June 3rd.

What is a moneybomb? A moneybomb is a grassroots fundraising effort to raise money from a large number of donors in a brief period of time. By concentrating our efforts, it will serve to encourage donations and increase the impact of those donations by potentially generating positive media coverage.

Why June 3rd? On June 3rd, Montana and South Dakota will hold the last contests in the race for the Democratic nomination. At that time, it will be important for the Democratic party to begin the process of coming together after what has been a hard-fought race for the nomination between some great candidates. This event aims to promote Democratic unity in preparation for the general election fight against John McCain.

Why give money to the DNC? The Democratic candidates have raised record sums of money this year. However, because the campaign for the nomination has been so long and so expensive, less money has found its way to the national party. According to recent campaign finance reports, the DNC is badly trailing the RNC in cash on hand. The party needs enough money to support its nominee in the general election as well as to continue organizing in every state as part of its 50 state strategy.

What can you do to help? This is a grassroots effort, so the most import thing everyone can do is spread the word about the event. Send out an email letting your friends know about this effort and mark the June 3rd moneybomb on your calendar. You can promote the DNC Moneybomb on your blog or join the facebook group and invite your friends. And last but not least, on June 3rd, remember to make a contribution!

If we all join together, we can help Democrats to victory in November!
