Fair & Balanced Media? - SfD Presents: The Fifth Estate: Sticks & Stones
Linked to groups: Sacramento For Democracy, Sacramento For Democracy, Sacramento For Democracy, Sacramento For Democracy, Sacramento For Democracy
Are you disgusted at the lack of media coverage of the real issues that affect our society? Are you tired of "gotcha questions" in the presidential debates? If a candidate does not wear flag lapel pin, are they unpatriotic? Who gives a rats @##? How about asking questions about our healthcare crisis, faltering economy, environmental destruction, pre-emptive war and occupation of sovereign nations, etc...?
Join us this Wed., May 7th at the Colonial Heights Library for a lively discussion about the "Fair & Balanced Media" in our society as we watch the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation documentary, The Fifth Estate: Sticks & Stones.
WEDNESDAY MAY 7th
7:00pm – 9:00pm
Location : Colonial Heights Library
4799 Stockton Blvd.
Sacramento, CA 95820 map
You can RSVP here: http://dfalink.com/event.php?id=29209
THE FIFTH ESTATE : Sticks & Stones
You can see how Bill O'Reilly and Ann Coulter reacted to this film (click the pic to watch the short video):
Please join us as we take a look at this documentary highlighting how ridiculous the Mainstream Media actually looks trying to appear fair and balanced. The Canadian Broadcasting Company takes an outside look at the American media, and how it has digressed to a shouting match between supposed Liberals and Conservatives, where often big money dictates who is the loudest. This 45 minute film will be followed by a spirited discussion. Light snacks and refreshments will be provided.
We will also be highlighting the June 3rd Primary races. There will be more information about them in upcoming reminders, so stay tuned.
New updates on the June CDP E-Board meeting, the latest action going with the ILWU (anti-war and Blue Diamond), and the all-important WAR FUNDING VOTE in Congress rounds out our tentative agenda.
There will be plenty of options for input and active participation...so PLEASE join us!!
You can RSVP here: http://dfalink.com/event.php?id=29209

Just a feeling I'm getting from looking at Clinton's face tonight at the JJ Dinner. She looks defeated. I think she knows in her heart it is over. I don't know why she is carrying this out any longer.
JMHO
heavy in Obama leaning counties. Please let this be true. I am having a hard time listening to Hillary in the pick-up, trying her best to get a cup of coffee and now puttin' on the twang in NC. Could this woman be any more inauthentic? Please let this end on Tuesday.

Gov Mike Easley is getting boos at the JJ Dinner.
The more this primary season lingers - the more I think Schweitzer is the perfect VP. Just sayin'.
-----
Glad Easly is getting booed. Ya know, I am not falling for crowd favorites any longer. Obama has all the huge rallies - Clinton doesn't yet her people show up and vote in larger numbers.
I hope Obama cleans her clock in NC and makes it close in IN.
Thanks friends, for your steadfastness and optimism.
Just finished watching Billl Moyers. My husband David said, it feels like we're watching a train wreck. We've both felt exhausted lately, and he speculated that we are feeling the paralysis of the country.
I so hope you are right. Jo, I have three wonderful little granddaughters: one's a poet, the another has a Stephen Colbert sense of humor; the newest is a few weeks old. I worry for their future.
Yet, listening to you, I do feel hope.
Now, I'm going to take a nap. Thank you.
on cspan right now and he's kicking a$$!!
I hope you watch a replay on CSPAN of Barack's JJ Dinner speech tonight. It was absolutely inspiring. I think it will lift your spirits. It did mine. I've been a little low this week with all the Clinton antics and listening to the talking heads trying to make this a horse race as well as the incessant Wright chatter. Enough already!
took me ten tries to get to the new thread, and now I'm too sleepy to post lol
Des Moines in the morning for Platform if that cow hurries a little in the maternity pen, I may miss my first meeting in years
I absolutely agree with mary vb, Barack's speech was very inspiring.
Howard was just great on The Daily Show. Here's the video.

I think it is still fair game to question how closely Hillary Clinton is tied to the Doug Coe group, The Fellowship. Convenience, loyalty.
Hillary Clinton "has become a regular visitor to Coe's Arlington, Virginia, headquarters"
According to a fundamentalist minister.

Tell me how to post a link. I had it figured out the other day. If I click the html editor, it opens an empty window.
Anyone. Please.
At least copy paste my links...worth it.
great lbam report on channel 5 just after the court order, regarding
the judges decision to require that the EIR be completed before aerial
spraying
can go forward (at least in Santa Cruz).

About two minutes in they quote internal usda memos questioning both
whether the moth is really that problematic, and the effectiveness of
the proposed spraying program.

Here you go flagal - put your link where resumepage.html put your comments where my resume
Monica finally convinced me to download Firefox and it is helping with using the blog.
Comments for the end of the day:
The conductor who got his big break with the BSO in 69 was Michael Tilson Thomas.
I really liked Hill's speech, perhaps b/c I have not heard it before, and I think she looked rested and gave a good delivery.
I thought Barack looked tired and maybe a little pressured - I wish he would get loose and smile more. His speech was good but it was his 'usual.'
Darn - I forgot about Howard on Stewart.
I tried to watch Narnia - the Lion, Witch, Wardrobe last night. When they got to the part where they were torturing the lion I simply could not watch. So I ejected it and sent it back. Guess I'll never know how it ended. At least I see the 'Christian symbolism' so remarked about. When I was very young (teens) we all went to church on dates and I was very Christian and read CS Lewis Mere Christianity b/c my big sis had a beau who was an Episcopal priest and I had a crush on him and he gave me the book to read and it informed my life for those years.
McLaughlin Group - McLaughlin was obnoxious about Obama tonight - think he is in Hill camp.
So good night bloggie.
floridagal, try using the reply button, it usually has a tool bar. . .
Puddle was due yesterday. Did she make it?

Here's flagal's link to Howard - he was excellent and once again in the crushie tie I think. Stewart got a little wierd and Howard was perfect. Thanks flagal.
Thanks for the help above on the links.
Trying annilow's tip, though the way I did it worked the other day.
Hillary Clinton "has become a regular visitor to Coe's Arlington, Virginia, headquarters"
The way I did it worked before. It is like a contest...figure out how to do it each day.
Your code upthread looked perfect to me, don't have a clue why it didn't hyperlink properly. Maybe if Monica was here, she would know.
Usually when I hit Reply, there is a toolbar available.
For one day, the way I do it worked perfectly. I have a toolbar now, but there is nothing in the edit html window.
- let's make a link

you remember how that works. if you have a tool bar, you paste in the url, then highlight by passing the cursor over it. then you click on the chain link and paste the url in the drop down box and click insert.
if you don't have a tool bar, then you have to enter the code
<a href="http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2008/4/29/162042/527/612/505856"> link</a>
the bolded word, in this case link should show up as something for you to click
Since this comment box has the tool bar, I don't expect the code to be transformed.
