On April 20th the College Democrats at USC will return to Charleston for their second trip to Congressional District 1 to canvas for Elizabeth Colbert-Busch. The day will consist of walking around Charleston going door-to-door encouraging residents to vote for Colbert-Busch in the Congressional race to be the Representative for District 1. She is running against former South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford.

The College Democrats will also add a reminder for voters to bring valid state issued IDs with them to vote so that people can avoid being turned away at the polls as a result of the Voter ID laws in South Carolina. Under these laws voters must present a valid and current ID such as a South Carolina driver’s license, a passport, or a military ID in order to vote.

In addition to the canvassing trip on the 20th the College Democrats are continuing their phone banks for Elizabeth Colbert-Busch. The phone banks are from 7-8:30 pm on Mondays and Wednesdays in the William’s Brice Building 133.

The College Democrats at USC would welcome anyone who wishes to participate in these events as well as anyone who would like to attend the weekly meetings on Tuesdays at 7 pm in Russell House 205.
