Grassroots change starts at the bottom. We need ot be informed voters and make sure the candidates we're voting into local office (the offices that affect us most directly) share the progressive values we champion.

When you get to the voting booth on November 4, will you know which State Representatives, School Board Members, State Auditors, Dog-catchers shere your values. Will you even know their names?

Oil Crisis: Oil Industry's method of raising prices and cutting their own taxes

Regarding opening environmentally protected areas for mining and pumping oil:

There is over 200 years of oil in the 48 contiguous States that are capped up by oil companies to monopolize world energy. There is no need to violate our environmentally protected areas, just to allow oil companies to further monopolize their strangle hold over our lives.

They are creating a media frenzy just to increase the price of oil; very successfully I might add. However, there is no immediate threat for an oil shortage !!! The oil companies have ONLY created the perception that there is a shortage !!!!

I personally believe that ALL mineral rights belong to the American People, NOT souless corporations!!!

I applaud Venezuela for nationalizing the oil assets in their country!!!!

We should be doing the same thing here in the United States !!!!

Congressman Kucinich: impeach President Bush

As I write this I am watching Congressman Kucinich (with gratitude, admiration and respect) live on the Floor of the House of Representatives introducing articles of impeachment for President Bush.

Congressman Kucinich showing himself to be a great American Patriot, performing his sworn duty under the Constitution of the United States of America, and I strongly support him.

I am going to contribute to his reelection campaign, and I am going to call and write all of my elected representatives, on every level of Government, and demand that they publicly support Congressman Kucinich, the rule of law and the supremacy of the Constitution of the United States of America.

I urge you to do the same.

Governor Corzine is getting Florioed. Lest anyone forget, Jim Florio was the last governor with a balanced budget as prescribed by the State Constitution. For his efforts, Governor Florio was targeted by the precursor of Swift Boat Veterans, Hands Across New Jersey. Through relentless attacks in the media, Governor Florio was pilloried for balancing the budget on the backs of those who could most afford it. Hands Across New Jersy was a well funded public relations effort by New Jersey's wealthiest residents to avoid paying their fair share.

As a result we were cursed with the Whitman plan to bankrupt our treasury. Since Whitman's pandering to short sighted voters worked, we have been in a fiscal hole that Governor Corzine is trying to close. There are no easy solutions. When tough decisions are made, someone gets hurt.

For the past few months there have been a barrage of letters in the Star-Ledger chastizing the governor for his plans to close the hole caused by Whitman's irresponsible, politically expedient plan. Everyone is demanding the governor make cuts in wasteful spending. The problem is, one person's waste in another's life support.

One of the places the State could save money is to stop providing State Police protection in the rural areas where the citizens refuse to fund local police patrols. The majority of those in these rural areas are knee jerk conservatives who would never vote for a Democrat. In fact, they'd probably make a nice dinner for some hungry bears.

We have to be creative in finding ways to cut spending that hurts Republican interests. If you have any, send them to the Governor.

I didn't make these rules, Karl Rove did.
