Mission Statement

We believe that it is time for ordinary Americans to reclaim our democracy by participating actively in our government. We value fairness, opportunity, respect for individual’s private lives and beliefs, and protection of civil liberties. We believe in preserving our national wealth and our natural resources.

We believe the best way to promote American values internationally is through development, education, and an engaged foreign policy. We believe war should be a policy of last resort used to defend our vital, national interests in the event of threat or attack.

We encourage citizens who share these values to seek public office, especially those new to politics. We recognize that open, well-informed debate is essential to democracy and recognize our responsibility to learn about our government and the decisions we face as a people. We work for the expansion of public debate by providing education on the issues and the actions of public officials. We work to influence news organizations to cover all perspectives and oppose the increasing trend towards monopoly in the media. We support policies that promote, ethical, open government accountable to its citizenry rather than beholden to special interests. We believe that nothing is more important to our democracy than the rigorous protection of free, fair, and verifiable elections and work to promote the adoption of technology and policies that preserve the fundamental American right to vote.

We work as a county organization, through our affiliation with NJ for Democracy, and Democracy for America, and through outreach to like-minded civic organizations to promote these values and take action on these beliefs. Our goal is socially progressive and fiscally responsible government “of the people, by the people, and for the people.�
