Federal Employees Paid Parental Leave Act - Vote Passed (278-146, 10 Not Voting)
The House voted to provide four weeks of paid parental leave to federal employees who adopt or give birth to a child.
Rep. Lynn Westmoreland voted NO......How can you say you are for family values? And then vote against strong families?
Typical of an average Republican Congressman these days.
Hopefully, a good Democrat will be running against Westmoreland this Nov.
When I logged on this afternoon I had messages from DFA, Firedoglake, and True Majority to call my senators (which I did) and tell them to support a Dodd/Feingold filibuster if the Senate version of FISA includes immunity to the telecoms.

Just took a look at all the polls over at Daily Kos - with Barack leading McCain in traditionally *red* states. I fully expect the wingnuts to pull out all the stops - Muslim, scary arugala-eating black man with an unpatriotic black wife, etc.
Maybe the country will say *not this time* - Go Barack! ;-)
