Local Streamwood candidates fight an unhill battle.
Linked to groups: Hanover Democratic Township Voters(HDTV)
According to an old anecdote, Benjamin Franklin was confronted by a woman as he exited the final session of the constitutional convention. "What kind of government have you given us, Dr. Franklin?" the women asked "A republic or a monarchy?" A republic, he answered, "If you can keep it." Unfortunately in Streamwood we have not been able to preserve our republic. Each time the people of Streamwood rallied a candidate towards running against Billie Roth's circle, they convene many obstacles, and this year is no different.
Guy Patterson, a candidate for the Village Board of Trusties and Billie Roth's unsuccessful Senate campaign manger filed objections against Robert Eisenmenger, Tyler Gordon and William Morris's petitions to run in the forthcoming Streamwood elections. Even objecting to the legality of signatures from the candidates own mothers, wifes and neighbors. Patterson is hoping to void one signature from each page that would eliminate the whole page. It's up to the candidate to go door to door, once again, in frigid temperatures to obtain notarized affidavits from each of the questioned signatures.
The board consisting of Republican Village President Billie Roth, Clerk Kittie Kopitke and David Stoves confronted a bolt from the blue at the first hearing; these candidates are eager to put up a fight and obtained the financial assistance of many citizens in this generally democratic, exceedingly unionized town. Billie Roth knows that if the inhabitants of Streamwood had a choice, she would advently no longer be able to control our government and maintain her lackeys in office.
While they boast about lowering the municipal property tax rate, they have driven up the property values by passing restrictions on over night parking, commercial and recreational vehicles and raising sale taxes to the highest permissible by state law. High property values may conceivably sound good to you, but that's only accommodating if you essentially sell your home, if you aren't planning on moving, you're paying more in taxes every single year.
If you are forecasting on selling, don't tell the would-be buyers about the stringent new laws especially the immense transfer tax that the current administration has passed. Once they do realize the veiled taxes, they are liable to sell. This kind of trickier turns housing pretty quickly, nice for realtors like Billie Roth.
If Billie Roth has her way, paid members of her failed Senate campaign will run unopposed in the up coming April 17th election. The people can't stand by and let local elections turn into hand picked political favors. We must unite, convey our discontent for this momentous disregard for democracy and seize back the rights of all Americans to choose their elected officials. For to long have incumbents used out dated laws from the 40's to keep local candidates from running for office in their home towns. The compromises from the Democrats and Republicans were not meant to keep people from running, but to keep Marxists type parties from identifying themselves on ballots; this has caused a battle of attrition in our local races and needs to be reformed.
Not that I wish for partisan politics to be introduced, but I'm neither for monarchies in the form of proxy elections nor promiscuous accusations as Guy Patterson has made. I just want the right to choose, the way Dr. Franklin has promised.
