I question the effectiveness of random phone calling.  People really got sick of political phone calls long before the seasons was completed.  I feel a much more effective way of calling is for volunteers to call people they know or   acquainted with -- or the person being called has some recognition of the caller (neighborhood, school, sports, work).  You probably can't make as many calls but being more personal the call seem to be more effective.
I also question the effectiveness of road side political signs -- after a few days of their arrival they are part of the landscape.  What I found to be very effective was to pick up one of these signs and hold it up standing in the same place it was planted.  People commuting or just out for a ride started honking, flashing lights, and waving --actually seeing the candidates name.
On election day, shortly after voting,  an acquaintance  came up to me and asked,"who in the hell is Bob Jones" ( one of the sign I had been holding on a corner somewhere) I gave a short bio. the person then said, " I voted for him, if he's good for you -- he's good for me.  Just one example of feedback it happened many times in  many different ways and also to many other people.  
My lesson was I am going to be more visible and share with people see what I believe is true.

Bill will be showing the new Robert Greenwald film "IRAQ FOR SALE". It is about the war profiteering that is going on in Iraq, in our names. The film will be shown Friday at 7 pm at the Universalist Unitarian church located at 4 Palmer Street in Plattsburgh. There is no charge for this movie. Come and see this highly acclaimed film in the company of other concerned citizens from the area.

State Senate Debate and Planning Meeting Update

Our own Tim Merrick ( www.votemerrick.com... ) will be in a debate with Betty Little at the Plattsburgh High School on Thursday @ 6PM. Since we had set the planning meeting for 7PM I think we should reschedule so we can all attend the debate.

Also the building staff does not work Saturday, so it would be best if we could move most of the office on Friday (I'll be there from 3PM-6PM anyone who wants to help can show up during that time). We at least could use three or four people, so if you can help please email me ( bobaubin@gmail.com ).

As far as the planning meeting we can discuss the agenda at the State Senate Debate and when we move stuff at the office. I'll send out the preliminary agenda in an email and everyone can add any suggestions by emailing me.

One thing we might want to take into account is the Plattsburgh Gala with Viggo Mortensen and Bob Johnson at The Burgundy Room Sept 7 6PM, and our next monthly meeting is scheduled for 7PM that same night. ( johnsonforcongress.org/viggo_mor... )

I'd like to get the most people possible for our September meeting as it is essential we get the group more active with only basically two months till election day.

Remember, the September Primary is on the 12th and our endorsed candidate Andrew Brockway needs our support. ( www.brockwayforassembly.com... )

If we where to reschedule to Wednesday the 6th @7PM how would that be for everyone?

North Country DFA August Update

Hello friends,

First of all I want to ask you all to go to www.dccc.org/candidate/featured_... and write in Bob Johnson (NY23) in the other box. This could bring some attention from the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and that would really help our efforts.

We had very low turnout for the August meeting and I'm hoping it was due to the summer. We have some great candidates that really need your help to get elected.

We will be moving to a new office at 22 US Oval, the building manager will be helping us but anyone else who can help would be greatly appreciated. Our planning meeting to set our agenda for the September meeting will be on Thursday 24th of August (7PM). We will move some of the office then and we will finish that weekend Saturday the 26th (around 1PM).

I'm working on a new NorthCountryDFA.com that should be finished soon, and the new site will be updated regularly. Until then you can check out our DFALink site @ www.dfalink.com/plattsburgh... for the latest info on North Country DFA.
