Happy Birthday Howard!

Written by: Dave Santucci on Nov 17, 2008 9:56 AM EST

Governor Howard Dean is celebrating his 60th birthday today. What a great birthday present we got him....Our Country!

It was his leadership that helped us win this election. It was his commitment to the fifty state strategy that helped us win this election. It was because he reminded us that "We Have the Power."

Give Howard a big thank you!

No one knows what is up next for Gov. Dean. There is speculation as where he goes from here, the biggest being that he might get Sec. of Health and Human Services in the Obama administration. Where ever he ends up, we know that is was because of him that we have taken back our country!

Thank him today!

- Thank you, Howard Dean, a great American

I think sometimes the hardest jobs are those of catalysts, who speak out when no one else is, who exhort people to speak out and stand up for their values.  Inevitably they are opposed, maligned, ridiculed, ostracized, but if what they have been saying is the truth, they are ultimately vindicated.

In Howard's case, not only was he a catalyst, but an organizer, a visionary who knew that the message of liberals/progressives/Americans with a conscience and belief in the principles of this country would prevail.  He was right.

How much honor he has achieved in his lifetime, I don't know, but I do know that we can celebrate this victory in 2008 in part bacause of Howard Dean.  In a concrete sense, he has given us hope.  His statement that in order to be good citizens, we must do more than vote has become a truth acknowledged by millions in our culture.  He has changed the culture.

Again, thank you Howard Dean.  Your contribution to this country, to all of the people is indelible.  Happy Birthday.

I hope somebody at HQ forwards our well wishes to Howard.  Many of us knew years ago how special he is.  And no matter what he chooses to do now, we have his back.  We are his legacy.

I have been blessed by this connection to friends that sees a higher vision for a community based on our best values as Americans, I worked with people like them for decades as a activist, but it took your leadership to pull it together and pull it off. There would be no President Obama without you.
