CHALLENGE: ONLY 3 DAYS LEFT to raise $380! Help the only Democratic County Commissioner in Missaukee County (Michigan).
On Tuesday, November 4th, history was made in Missaukee County. I was fortunate enough to defeat a Republican incumbent for County Commissioner in the second most Republican county in the state of Michigan. However, as with many campaigns, I have debt to pay off, and several final expenses to pay. I need to raise $380 in 3 days. Can I count on you? Making a contribution is easier than ever. Just click on the link below, and make a secure, online contribution using PayPal...
OFFICIALLY ENDORSED BY MID-MICHIGAN DEMOCRACY FOR AMERICA (MMDfA)!“Richard REALLY knows his stuff and has specific plans for improving his county.”
As I was quoted in our local daily, the Cadillac News, following my victory...
"The voters...have made a determination that the status quo is no longer acceptable, that we expect more accountability, greater openness, and transparency in county government."
Please, help me pay off my debt by raising $380 in 3 days. Just click on the link below, and make a secure, online contribution using PayPal...
Victory '10,
Richard Renner
Missaukee County Commissioner-elect

Regarding opening environmentally protected areas for mining and pumping oil:
There is over 200 years of oil in the 48 contiguous States that are capped up by oil companies to monopolize world energy. There is no need to violate our environmentally protected areas, just to allow oil companies to further monopolize their strangle hold over our lives.
They are creating a media frenzy just to increase the price of oil; very successfully I might add. However, there is no immediate threat for an oil shortage !!! The oil companies have ONLY created the perception that there is a shortage !!!!
I personally believe that ALL mineral rights belong to the American People, NOT souless corporations!!!
I applaud Venezuela for nationalizing the oil assets in their country!!!!
We should be doing the same thing here in the United States !!!!

PLEASE FORWARD TO OTHERS WHO MAY BE INTERESTED IN ATTENDING AN EXPLORATORY MEETING.
For many years concerned citizens have attempted, without success, to communicate to their local government -- appearing before city council meetings, county commissioners by telephone, letters, emails, referendums and petitions.
The concern of citizens has been the on-going increases in taxes in all categories. Also, the never-ending pet projects for a few entrepreneurs desiring public guarantees – such as Esther Short Park, Hilton Hotel, Mayor Pollard’s land bridge, Vancouver Port Authority development and parking garages, to name a few.
On all of these issues, citizens have requested input and/or a vote. The response from local officials has been outrageous in disrespect. The answer is usually, "you elected us, and we can do what we want; or, you are nay-sayers and don’t have the vision we do".
Our system of government is only effective when citizens are involved. It is absolutely imperative that citizens can petition their government.
It has become obvious that our City and County governments prefer to communicate with entities like Identity Clark County, Inter-Act, Chamber of Commerce, Columbia River Economic Council and other special interest groups. These organized groups garner the respect of our local governments and are influential. A perusal of the leadership of these entities reveals that many are leaders in all the organized groups. In other words, these entities including our local governments are organized against us.
Consequently, in our search to more effectively communcate with our local government, we intend to organize a coalition of interested citizens. To this end, you are invited to attend/participate at a citizens’meeting.
If you are interested in attending such a meeting, please e-mail or phone one of the following persons. You will then be notified of date, time and place of an initial meeting.

Attend Drinking Liberally on October 10!
Linked to groups: Democracy for Vancouver DFALink
Dear Member,Some friends and I have recently started a local chapter of Drinking Liberally. To quote from the national website (drinkingliberally.org), Drinking Liberally is "an informal, inclusive progressive social group". Raise your spirits while you raise your glass, and share ideas while you share a pitcher. Drinking Liberally gives like-minded, left-leaning individuals a place to talk politics. You don't need to be a policy expert and this isn't a book club - just come and learn from peers, trade jokes, vent frustration and hang out in an environment where it's not taboo to talk politics."
We have about 15 folks who meet and we're always looking for new people. We meet the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the month at 7:00. Right now, we're meeting at the Hazel Dell Brewpub. We'd love to see some new faces. Join us and we'll help build democracy, one drink at a time.
You can get more info drinkingliberally.org/subscribe1...
Columbian ad to OUR representatives
Linked to groups: Democracy for Vancouver DFALink
Received the following email from the Vancouver for Peace group today. I am asking you (everyone reading this) to reach into your hearts (and pocketbooks) and support with your time and money the efforts of Vancouver for Peace. This group has, more than any local group, been working tirelessly for going on four years now to get our elected officials to support ending the illegal and immoral occupation of Iraq. Please help fund their latest ad set to run in Sunday's Columbian (see below). Please also come out to the all day Peace Camp across the street from the FT. Vancouver Library next Thursday anytime from 11 am until 7 pm to show that you too are helping to end our illegal and immoral occupation of Iraq. We will have music, speakers, pizza, vigils and other surprises. We hope (but unfortunately are not holding our breath) that OUR representatives will also visit Camp Peace and sign onto the Declaration of Peace.Email received:
We have become increasingly frustrated with our elected officials in Washington D.C. because of their silence in not speaking out or sponsoring any legislation to end the occupation of Iraq.
Many of us have met repeatedly with staff members but we have never been successful in meeting directly with the Senators or with Representative Baird despite numerous attempts to do so. We have taken petitions and written letters and postcards. Meanwhile, there have been over 20,000 U.S. troops killed or physically injured and more than 100,000 Iraqi deaths.. For what ?
September 21 is an International Day of Peace, designated by the United Nations. It is also the date that peace-makers throughout the nation are calling on Senators and Representatives to sign on to the Declaration of Peace, withdrawing U.S. troops from Iraq.
Vancouver for Peace intends to run 1/4 page ad in the Columbian addressed to Senators Murray and Cantwell and to Representative Baird, asking them to sign on to the Declaration of Peace. The ad will run on Sunday, September 17th.
The cost of the ad is $1,100! Can you help defray some of this cost? Donations in any amount are welcome. If you can help, time is of the essence. Checks can be mailed to: Vancouver for Peace, 4303 NE 14th Ave, Vancouver, WA 98663. Please put "Ad" on the memo line.
Columbian Ad running in Sunday's Columbian Clark county section:
Murray, Cantwell, Baird:
LISTEN TO US !
We, the people of Vancouver for Peace, from the start, opposed attacking and occupying Iraq, because this horrific "war" was founded on ignorance, lies, and greed. Ill-equipped American soldiers have suffered. Innocent Iraqi men, women, and children have suffered. We've worked hard in every reasonable way to make our convictions known to you, but you and Congress have not responded, to end the deaths and destruction.
Now we find ourselves in the majority. Most Americans, most soldiers, most Iraqis, most citizens of the world, want military occupation of Iraq to end, and to end now. Continued military occupation hurts Iraqi people and infrastructure, endangers our troops, drains our economy, further ruins our already damaged reputation, destabilizes the region, and increases terrorism.
Out. Out now, except to rebuild Iraq. We ask that you sign the Declaration of Peace and act on legislation to end the occupation, immediately. Represent us and what we stand for -- security and peace, based on Justice. We invite you, our congress-people, to visit Vancouver Peace Camp, Mill Plain at Ft Vancouver Way, September 21, 11am-7pm. Work with us, for Peace. The same wrong road, leads to the same wrong place. We know a different road. Follow it with us.
